What is Minecraft you ask?

Minecraft is a sandbox indie game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. It was publicly released for the PC on May 17, 2009, as a developmental alpha version and, after gradual updates, was published as a full release version on November 18, 2011. A version for Android was released a month earlier on October 7, and an iOS version was released on November 17, 2011. On May 9, 2012, the game was released on Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live Arcade game, as well as on the PlayStation 3 on December 17, 2013. Both console editions are being co-developed by 4J Studios. All versions of Minecraft receive periodic updates.

The creative and building aspects of Minecraft allow players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, gathering resources, crafting, and combat. Gameplay in its commercial release has four principal modes:
- Survival mode, which requires players to acquire resources and maintain their health and hunger.
- Creative mode, where players have an unlimited supply of resources and experience, the ability to fly, unlimited health and no hunger.
- Hardcore mode is a version of survival mode, differing only in difficulty; it is set to the most difficult setting and respawning is disabled, forcing players to delete their worlds upon death.
- Spectator mode, where the player does not collide with blocks, and is able to view, but not interact with, almost everything.

MineCraft: Xbox One Edition Release Date: Friday, September 5th

MineCraft: PS4 Edition Release Date: likely Friday, September 5th (possibly sooner)

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Details: (we know so far)
- Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be released on Xbox Live Marketplace in September 5th, 2014. It brings significantly bigger worlds and a greater draw distance than Xbox 360 Edition.
- It will include all the features from the most recent Xbox 360 title update.
- Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will cost $19.99.
- If you’ve bought Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition from Xbox Live Marketplace, or played online with the disc version, you will be able to upgrade to Xbox One Edition for $4.99.
- You will be able to upgrade for a minimum of a year after the release date.
- Players with Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition saves will be able to import their worlds to Xbox One. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to transfer saves from Xbox One to Xbox 360. We can make worlds bigger without too much stress, but shrinking them causes all kinds of problems.
- Cross platform play will not be possible between Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
- Many, but not all, of the DLC skins and texture packs you’ve purchased for Xbox 360 Edition will be available for use in Xbox One Edition. We’d like to say all your DLC would transfer, but some of the items are trapped in licensing deals that are too boring to get into here. We’ll have more on this soon.

Minecraft: PS4 Edition Details: (we know so far)

- Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition will be released on the PSN in or around the date of September 5th, 2012. It brings significantly bigger worlds and a greater draw distance than Playstation 3 + Vita Edition.
- It will include all the features from the most recent Playstation 3 version.
- Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition will cost $19.99.
- If you’ve bought Playstation 3 Edition from the Playstation Network you will be able to upgrade for $4.99.
- You will be able to upgrade for a minimum of a year after the release date.
- We are working closely with Sony Computer Entertainment to look into ways to enable upgrade from the Blu-ray disc version of Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition to Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition. We’ll have more info on this closer to release.
- Players with Playstation 3 Edition or Playstation 3 + Vita Edition saves will be able to import their worlds to Playstation 4. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to transfer your saves from Playstation 4 to Playstation 3/Vita. There are technical reasons for this; we can make worlds bigger without too much stress, but shrinking them causes all kinds of problems.
- Cross-platform play will not be possible between Playstation 3 + Vita Edition and Playstation 4 Edition.
- Many, but not all, of the DLC skins and texture packs you’ve purchased for Playstation 3 Edition will be available for use in Playstation 4 Edition. We’d like to say all your DLC would transfer but some of the items are trapped in licensing deals that are too boring to get into here. We’ll have more on this soon

The gap is only going to get wider. I thought it would have died by now, but these newer releases are going to sell super well too.

It's one of those "you get what you put into it", because there's no real end to it. You can endless create worlds or change existing ones.

let's kick off this Minecraft Next Gen excitement, with some Gaming Board Minecraft stories.

I'll go first,

Chronicles of Trolling PawPaw Broke

- Fill Broke's little 10 by 10, single chest, 0 windows, and one bed "House" up with sand or dirt while he's off mining or collecting resources.
Result: "God Dammit Proof"

- Bonemeal-ing 12 trees on top of Broke's aforementioned "House".
Result: "Really Proof???? you a-hole"

- Digging a 1 by 1 block pit to a pool of water at bedrock right outside Broke's "house" for him to fall into when he leaves out the front door. then dig his way from bedrock.
Result: "frick You Proof. I fricking hate you"

- Before allowing "players to sleep" each night, walking into Broke's house every night and putting a bed down directly next to homophobe PawPaw Broke
Result: "Proof, you a-hole, leave me alone bro"

- Making it a habit to remove all torches in or around PawPaw Broke's house, so he has to fight mobs on a nightly basis when returning to his "house"
Result: "PROOOOOF, IM NOT STUPID I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN STEALING MY TORCHES"

- Using Wheat to draw 10-12 animals into PawPaw Broke's "house"
Result: "Aww, come on Proof, get these animals out of my house. This is not a barn!!!"

- Removing all loot from PawPaw Broke's chests and refilling them with sand, dirt, or gravel, then sending broke on a wild goose treasure hunt for his own loot.
Result: BROKE RAGE QUIT.

soo many broke trolling opportunities, so little time.......
