Morning, My daughter is asking about the Nintendo Switch. Looking at the website there appears to be 3 different ones.

Lite
Regular
OLED.

Will the gaming experience really be all that different between the 3? TIA

You can’t play the lite hooked up to your TV which is a deal breaker for my kids

Very good to know! is the OLED one just an enhanced screen? It doesn't appear to be any larger

The OLED screen is larger, 0.8" which is a pretty big difference. The OLED screen is amazing looking too.

To clarify I don't think the OLED switch unit is any larger, just the screen is.

I see the website has specs for each. The OLED also has double the storage. Those 2 things are worth the extra $50.

Now on to buying all the pokemon games for my daughter

I'd also recommend picking up a screen protector and SD card, but OLED is the way to go, unless you want to wait for the updated Switch rumored to be coming out in late 2024

If that's really the price difference, there is no question

On the topic of storage, if the plan is for your daughter to mostly download games, you may want to get a memory card. This is what I bought a couple years ago after doing research and finding out that this has the maximum read/write speeds that switch is compatible with

LINK

If the plan is for most of the games to be physical copies, you can probably get away with just 128GB.

I wouldnt do this, some of them are basically the same, some are very different. If you had a hard time figuring out the 3 versions of the switch, good luck with pokemon.

Can it wait until Xmas? This is the last year without a replacement there should be a really good bundle for Black Friday.

Ah, that is tough but just in time for Super Mario Bros. Wonder but Mario Kart and a pro controller are absolute must-haves.

Switch controllers are subject to stick drift. I haven't experienced it, but I know a lot of people have issues with that. With the regular switch, you can just buy another Joycon. With the switch light, you're out of luck.

If you're buying your first one, going with anything but the OLED is a mistake, IMO.

Don't buy it just for this. You can get an SD card. I have the original Switch and with the SD card we've never had storage issues.
