So the one thing I asked for for Xmas no one loved me enough to get.

Are they still making these things or was it a holiday only kind of thing?

I can't find one anywhere.

Just to clarify I'm talking about the one they just released in November with the built in games.

They're still hard to find and sellout in minutes. If you want to play the games then download an emulator, roms and a buy a USB controller.

So they are still making them?

My tech setup is weak and I'm not into all that other stuff. Plus I just want the original controller and all.

Can you get a heads up on when stores will get shipments in or is it all a crapshoot?

You pretty much have to be there when they arrive. Talked with a guy at toys r us about it. He said that when they receive a shipment it comes separate from their normal stock. So they know its coming just not when. And they're gone in minutes.

So if they don't even know when they're coming how do they sell out so fast? That many people that want just happen to be there when they arrive?

An alternative:

Buy a Retro-bit which is a knock-off Nintendo. They're like $15-$20. They play the most popular NES games. Go online or go to a retro game store and buy your favorite NES games. Most are $4-$10 each.

Pros:
Longer cords than the NES Classic which are like 2 feet max
Only pay for the games you want to play
You can buy more games than what's just pre-loaded on the Classic

You could even buy one of those NES Mutli-game catridges for $40-$50 and literally have about 100+ NES games for about the same price as the NES Classic. Just search eBay for the cartridge.

Honestly I think the ppl who are buying these things aren't even gamers. They just want it on their shelf.

Probably. They'll play it for a few minutes, get the nostalgia out of their system and never touch it again.

I'm 34, wouldn't call myself a gamer but I grew up on the NES. I have two small kids who I'd like to introduce video games to but the controllers for the XBox are too complicated.

Old NES games/controllers would be much easier to work with for them and fun for all of us to play the games I grew up on together.

Raspberry/Retro pie.

frick Nintendo.

They could've had $60 of my money, instead, I'll just take a few hundred dollars worth of their games :)

If its for small kids, get the Retro. Way cheaper plus if they break the system, it's cheap to replace and you still have whatever games you bought.

They break the Classic, you're out $60 to replace it, plus all the games are lost forever. That's if you can find one for sale in the first place besides those criminal a-holes on eBay.

Could even get the Super Retro Trio which can play NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games.

Zelda isn't impossible without cheats and guides. It just will take a year to beat thru trail and error.

I beat it as a 6-7yr old thru the same process. Same thing with Link to the Past a few year later.

Edt: shtt Kid Icarus is hard also. It might be just as hard as Ninja Gaiden. I also remember Simon's Quest being hard, or maybe just annoying with the day and night shtt.

When I typed that, I was trying to remember how I even beat it. I really can't recall. Pretty sure I used the Nintendo Power guide to some degree, but it's been like 30 years. I just seriously doubt I found which bush to burn or place to bomb all on my own.

ALttP was different. I remember breezing through that one with relative ease.

ETA: Simon's Quest was a mother. Could never beat it until years later on an emulator. Way too many secrets that the game never explained like the whole red crystal/tornado thing.

It took me 6months to beat LttP as an 8 year old. Serious talk lol

Was stuck on Turtle Rock. Could not find the next dungeon for the life of me, idk why because it is so simple. Not sure why I didn't try the lightning rod thing earlier.

I never beat it as a kid or adult. Might actually try it again.

Yeah.. that is where you kneel down against a wall for X amount of time?

Who would, but by accident. Even that is a hard thing to do because you have to kneel for a certain amount of time.

At less I'm Zelda you could burn every bush and get the answer instantly.

Looks like this thing may be worth a damn now, it's been hacked and the library is growing.
