So I've decided to try out World of Warcraft after watching the movie, which I thought was pretty good.

After a lot of google searches, I decided to go with a Rogue.

Anyone have any pointers or advice for me? Is it solely questing until level cap?

Any addons I must have?

Thanks for any info.

I bought my first month about a month ago.

Advice:

Choose a pvp server vs a normal one. That aspect of WoW is great.

Rogue is fine and easy to start with. Don't be afraid to run dungeons. They are quick and painless with all the experienced players and is where you get better gear.

Level up herbalism for great money.

Download the armory app.

It's about a month out from the Legion pre-patch. Blizzard loves completely retooling the classes every expansion. Don't get too used to a particular play style or spec.

I'm going to disagree and say don't join a pvp server at least if you don't do your research first, else you'll roll alliance on a server that is 75% Horde and will be griefed repeatedly.

While I'm here I'd like to know how many on TD still play? I'd be interested in joining a server.

I will come back after the Legion patch. I've played on a lot of different servesrs sine 2009, but I'm on Wyrmrest Accord now which is still high pop. PVE-RP

A couple weeks ago I downloaded the Starter Edition and lvled a Dranei Mage to 20. My main is a lvl 100 blood elf Hunter. I have a 67 blood elf paladin I was lvling during WoD days that I may pick up again.

Rogue is a good choice, I've leveled one but they aren't really my style.

It's not just questing until cap. You can run dungeons, PvP, etc for experience. I wouldn't do one thing to level cap.. It might get boring.

Advice? Join a guild or find some friends you like to play with. I can only play so much by myself. If you decide to buy the game up to current expansion, you will get a free max level boost. I wouldn't do that until you leveled your first character through it to make sure you know what your doing.

Addons? I would say a Skada Damage Meter or Recount meter are "must haves." They give you an idea on how well you are doing. Bag management addon like Bagnon would helpful. Deadly Boss Mods for group content. Map addons are nice, especially when you get higher up and can find things for experience.

Ultimately WoW is a game where it really gets fun at max level where you can gear up to Raid or PvP. If you really want to give the game a chance get there before making any judgements.

I've played since day one. I don't get on but two or 3 times a week now but I'm still active. I play on Whisperwind.

Questing is probably the least efficient way to get XP, but it's a good time killer in between DPS queues.

I've found questing between queues is good. If you run dungeons as a DPS, make sure you don't run the same dungeon after you've completed the quest. Queue for individual dungeons instead of the random unless you want the satchel for gear.

Thanks for the info.

I like pvp but choose a normal server so I could learn the game without worrying about getting ganked by another player. I have heard of some websites to check alliance/hord population www.realmpop.com

Cant you still PVP on a normal server?

I'll check out those Addons.

The server I choose was when I sorted by population, I picked the one below "Area 52", just because. I wanted to make sure the population was high so I wouldn't feel lonely in game, and had people to potentially play wow with.

So the best way to level up is to do dungeons? Can I do that at level 7? I'm not sure what you mean by satchel gear?

You can toggle pvp on and off on a pvp server from my understanding. I only got Rekt when I turned my off to test it out and found out you had to wait 5min to turn it off again haha

Think you have to be 10 to get in queue for dungeon

The Dungeon finder requires level 15 to queue up.

I haven't played on a PVP server since 2011, but I don't remember this being the case. I know for a fact that some cross faction zones like daily quest hubs force enable PVP

Must have changed. But I'm sure you are still forced in some areas. Maybe that are part of your faction you can toggle? I don't know I have been to deep into it.

I'm glad you gave it a shot.
The thing that keeps me playing are friends/family

After my wife saw movie she wanted to try it out too.
We are leveling slow and reading the quest text and overall just not rushing on her first character. She picked a rogue too.

I'd echo joining a guild as well.

I know you mentioned feeling alone while questing but you should know that blizzard combines servers for their leveling zones to make them populated. Also you should know that you can play with anyone so long as they are the same faction as you. Just have hem send you a group invite .

If you list your faction and your character or whatever is be happy to level with you or at least be there to answer questions while in game

A couple of years ago during the Christmas sale I decided to buy another copy of the game for like 15$ to have for my wife and she gave it a go, we got to level 40 and I was like, lets just boost and get to the good stuff.

Wasn't fun, she couldn't react to multiple mobs quick enough and ultimately quit because of that, that's why I told him to level up for he boosted. I screwed that opportunity up.

My battle tag is SBvital#1350 if you want to add me as well. I have no interest in leveling tbh, but I'll gladly answer any questions you have.

The game is not what it used to be, but it's still WoW. Many many good times on this game.

I'm Alliance.
Char name is: RajinKajin
Realm: Dalaran

But I'm still so low level, I could easily roll a new character on any server.

I've been playing on Vanilla Gaming 1.12 server. You know, before all of the easy-mode bullshite that Blizzard introduced through the years.

Free game, free server, 15x XP rate and fully scripted realms with an active server, what more could you ask for. Currently running AQ20 with guild.
