There were aspects of the Avengers game that I enjoyed...but overall the repetitiveness really hindered it. The flying mechanics sucked as well but some of the combat I thought was really good. Finally, I think it would have been much better off if it had simply focused on the single-player campaign story.
Which brings me to GotG....I really enjoyed this one even though it wasn't all that well received. It did what I wanted the Avengers game to do...focus purely on single player. However, I hated that you couldn't play as the other characters. Had that taken that aspect of the Avengers game and kept everything else the same, it would have been a great game for me personally.

I hate marvel and I had a blast with GOTG. The gameplay did get a little stale towards the end and the story got pretty wonky, but the writing in general was top tier. Mary Demarle led the writing team for it and it really showed. She's one of the best in the business.

I played it on Game Pass so don't know how I'd feel about it if I paid full price for it, but I really enjoyed the storyline and also liked the combat.
My biggest knock against that game was the long cut scene every time I used the "team special move" that I can't remember the name of right now. Was very annoying, but not so bad that I wanted to stop playing.
