Early on yeah. In the last few months there have only been 2.
Like any other console though, it updates for almost every new game as well.
Even Steam updates at least 5 things almost every day.

I have only had 2 updates in the last couple of months and one of those was the first time i ever turned it on so I expected it.

It was probably just the initial updates when my buddy first got the console. It just seemed like every time he turned it on, there was a new update to download.
Kinda became somewhat of a joke, hence the "Adobe of video game consoles" comment.
