I don't know about your question about coaches, but yeah it sucks.
I only got it to reacclimate to EA Sports football games to get ready for the NCAA fb game.

True but that doesn't detract from the fact that the Madden franchise is terrible, has been terrible, and hasn't slightly improved in any regard minus MUT for years. So much that I have stopped purchasing it.
Everyone says NCAA will be the saving grace but I'm skeptical...hoping I am wrong but NFL just needs to quit being greedy little bitches and allow other companies to purchase the license again. Madden has continuously gone downhill worse and worse after monopolizing the NFL market
