Sadly the entire gaming industry is going towards these in game micro-transactions.

Yeah they saw how much money these app games that use micro-transactions are making. It's one reason why I think EA hasn't made a new college football game. How good is this years madden?

It's about making money, I get it. But it really takes away the spirit of gaming when you can increase competitive advantage by out-spending other players.

Yea I get that. They'll make more off of one rich kid then they will selling ten copies of the game. Just doesn't make them strive for a quality game.

I'm not a hardcore madden player, but I picked this one up because of the great reviews it was getting.
In my few hours with it so far, I really like it.
The commentary overhaul is incredible and keeps me locked into games more than Nantz and Simms' robo-calls. They recorded a ton of great audio (and will do so each week) and made it more conversational like 2K.
The running improvements are good, and I love the gap play on defense. Think the running game might be a little too strong on default settings, though. I rushed for 200+ on all-pro in back to back games with Demarco Murray and Thomas Rawls.
I can't defend the pass to save my life, even with a secondary like Seattle's. Zones are different, but I suck at that area so much that I haven't seen a difference.
NCAA 14 was getting stale and too easy for me on the PS3. I like how this plays a more realistic version of football, and it's a slick-looking one too.

I just beat a guy in draft champions in OT on a FG block returned for a TD. He has to be PISSED

explain to me how one would PREVENT someone from blocking a field goal every single time.
Posted on 8/23/16 at 3:08 pm to USAF Hart
Well I've only blocked a FG that one time so I don't exactly know but I'd guess you mix up your timing. I think you have to hit RT at the perfect time to have a shot at it. I always prefer when they make it impossible to block FGs though.
A lot of people are missing FGs in the games I've played which is weird. The kicking system is different but shouldn't be that difficult

I'm glad they went with a harder kicking game this year. It's a very important part of the game and in years past it was automatic with anyone from inside 50. Now, it may not be.

From the videos I've seen it looks like the only way they made it to where you can block punts and field goals now is they just delayed the kicker/punters animations for them to actually kick the ball.

can you not back the DE off the LOS?

Do they really not let you back a DE off the line of scrimmage?
I haven't been able to...
Won my first six online games then lost the 7th with Emmit Smith having an open path to the winning TD until he fumbles into the end zone...frickKKK
On the brighter side opened my first pro pack from completing objectives and got an 85 ovr Pouncey and sold him for 25K

they broke the game. It's not real football anymore.
You can't back your DE away from the line of scrimmage pre-snap.
So you can no longer back off to defend a screen, back off after showing rush to defend the slant lane, or rush from a wide angle.
You are forced to be engaged by the blocker every single play. It's in no way real football
I can still play defense using another position but the entire game feels fake now.

You can still do all those things, just can't pull him pre-snap.

Put him in a QB spy or a zone and he will get up and go to coverage

Which is a broken game in my opinion. I play my DE 2 yards off the line off scrimmage, I get engaged by the tackle every single snap now.
Regardless of the call you have the freedom to position a single player anywhere you want to on defense.
It would be like someone who plays with a safety in the game not being able to bring him in the box if the call is cover one. It's just not football, and this is the first game ever where you can't.

I'll give that a try when I get on again. Will it let you stand up pre-snap though? And I wonder if that would shift everyone's new rush lanes.

I will say that the graphics in Madden 17 look way better than 16.

Yeah I don't have any real issues with this game. Online play has been pretty good so far too
I love how a good Oline actually helps you this year
