4 years in WoW
4 years in EQ
6 months in LotRO
couple of months in AoC, WAR, EVE.
I am back playing EQ now. WoW is too easy and leveling is so easy you quickly end up running the same content over and over. LotRO has a great crafting system and player housing but when I played it there want much endgame not sure what it's like now.

mmorpg.com and massively.com are two great mmo sites if you don't know about them.
I am looking at old republic, mortal online, and stargate worlds (if they can ever get it launched.)

When you say EQ, do you mean EQ1 or EQ2?
?

EQ1 WoW would make great strides if they had AA's something that progresses your toon when you made max level, achievments do not do that.

LOTRO
Plenty of reasons. Graphics, storyline, people...everything else listed.
I will say, I would like more class customization (and character customization), and some of the little systems within the game have had a lot of bumps (legendary weapon system, radiance armor, the auction house with it's ridiculous prices often).
I have considered other games, but with a small, personable kin, it's hard to give up. I only play a few hours per week, but it's well worth it.

The economy in WoW is much more stable (although it's inflated. Items in WoW generally cost 100's of Gold, whereas items in LOTRO cost 100's of silver.
I found myself taking more time to level in LOTRO than WoW, but there are a multitude of quests. I also think that WoW leveling is easier now since they really want people to experience their new content quickly. So, they increase the amount of exp you get, so you breeze through 1-60.
The housing in LOTRO is flawed. They put you in instanced neighborhoods with pre-set housing (for sale signs). Only a certain number of houses in each neighborhood. They do, however, give you options to decorate your home, but very limited. You have "hooks" that you can put stuff on around the house, but what you'll find is that the decorating in each house is pretty similar, save for the actual items themselves. They did have a plan in the future to allow for free-placement of decorations.
I love the story-lines in LOTRO. I actually find myself reading the quests, rather than just skipping through them like I did in WoW. The lore is pretty deep, and it's fun to see how my progress actually goes along with the books.

Yeah I loved the AA's and CA's you get in EQII, You can totally customize your character.
The barbarian racials were the best IMHO for tanks. I had Tundra Slam and the uber run speed buff on my Shadowknight.
For the brigand, I would argue the dark elves is best, for the Fury Of Innorukk racial buff, which increases attack speed. Kind of like the troll beserking racial in WoW.
For a caster, it's hard to beat the high elves.

LOTRO is a wow clone. crafting sucks in it as well.
everything in it is based off of wow, just in LOTR
WoW has better endgame, a better community, better support, better economy, better etc... list goes on

I love when someone posts in a thread and doesn't bother to read the previous posts.
There's a lot of of ex-WoW players now playing LOTRO because of the more mature player base. Not to mention the better graphics and lore.
Seriously, Blizzard changes "WoW lore" more often then they change their underwear.

LOTR destroys WOW in every aspect except PVP.

I love it when people say this.
ALL MMORPG's are EQ Clones so big deal.

And you can say EQ is a clone of lineage or Ultima.
The fact is WoW ushered in a new generation of MMOs, and attracted such a gigantic wave of new people into the MMO scene, so games coming out take what in part made WoW successful and use it to attempt to lure people to their game. Its not so much that WoW had some crazy ground breaking features, its just that devs want a level of familiarity for people who only know WoW.
Seeing all the WoWers who have to actually grind in Aion has been very rewarding/entertaining.

After trying out WoW again, then LOTRO, EQ2, and Vanguard, I subbed to LOTRO.
My Rune-keeper is about to ding 21, got a Hunter about to hit 14 on Windfola.
Loving it so far!
