I love how they completely disregarded the actual story line and now they are just giving us solo stories that have nothing to do with the overall story AC, AC2, ACB, ACR, and AC3 gave us

Can someone explain the story of AC to me thus far. I've yet to really play any of these games and don't see myself doing so anytime soon. Is it worth it to invest x amount of hours into them, or should I just pass?

Basically in modern times you're this guy named Desmond who had ancestors that were in the assassins guild. Some company created a device called the animus which taps into your ancestors memory through dna somehow. Anyway they keep pushing that guys story onto you two or three times per game. it gets annoying. Abstergo is the evil corporate company with the animus, blah blah blah

I think Black Flag is the only game in the series I enjoyed and it was because of the ship part of it. This game is notorious for releasing very buggy and with stupid features like not being able to restart your game from the beginning. I have no interest in the AC series anymore.
