I got tired of playing XBox 360 Battlefield. It's just not Battlefield unless it's 64 players on a map to me. Any suggestions that won't break my bank? And by break my bank I mean $800 or less is what I'm looking for.

From the ground up on ultra-settings on a 64p server? Not gonna happen.

You've got the right mindset though

Around $1,200 and you're in business.

Won't get what he wants for $800 or less.

So an i5 with an nvidia gt 545 with 8 GB RAM can't handle that? What about with an i7? Both systems with 8 GB RAM. Dell is selling the i5 system for 800 and the i7 for 900.

realistically if he gets just what he NEEDS, I think he could get close. When I say close, I mean within a few 100 dollars.

I went almost $600 over budget with mine because I started getting all of this extra shite I didn't need but thought would be cool to use.

TV tuner, BR burner, IR Remote, 4TB hard drive, etc

Do not go with Dell for high-performance gaming. Or any major company for that matter.

no. An extensive photoshop project would probably bog that down...

I would think you need more than 8GB for sure and an i5 is weak. spend the money and go with an i7 and 16GB of ram at the minimum.

Sounds like he needs an entire computer though.

Sure, you could probably get away with an older CPU and an older card (6970 probably)..and a cheap mobo. ..

I'd rather just save a little more money and go after higher end components though.

Nah

I have an i5 (granted, it's overclocked) and 8gb RAM and I can run ultra-settings on 64p servers with 60fps. But I have a 7950 GPU

I made a corporate account on one of those sites to get wholesale pricing I built a few friends of mine computers as well as my parents so it would look legit. I got an i7 and 2nd best ASUS mobo for like 650 after the rebates. All he would really need after that is a case and graphics card. All the other stuff is small petty cash

Bad advice if he is looking for a GAMING pc. I5 2500k is perfect for gaming and 8 gbs is plenty. Hell I've never used more than 4gb.

That's what I am thinking. My friend got the same thing as what I listed except he got an i7 instead of an i5 and it runs great. What I've heard is the i5 is great for gaming, not as good as the i7 obviously, but it does the job just fine so I don't see the reason to spend the extra money on what I don't need.
