50,000 counts of what's essentially trespassing, destruction of property, theft, and he should be on the hook for four days of PS plus and a xbox live money for every subscriber, as well as the money the companies had to pay to recover from the attacks including the damage to their reputations. With any other type of crime, the amount of people you affect directly relates to the severity of the sentence but law enforcement is still decades behind in knowing how to handle cyber crime. Make an example of these dumbasses

Yes, kill him and everyone he knows because you couldn't talk shite to 12 year olds over Christmas.
You could have spent time with your family...the horror.

Meh I'm not arguing for the death penalty, but 2 years seems kinda light for 50,000 counts of anything.

Do you happen to be of reptile descent perhaps?

He "bragged" about it under an alias. That's a long shot from proving he was involved.

I happen to be of innocent until proven guilty descent...you know, American.

So? He caused many millions of dollars in damages if guilty. What difference does it make what industry it affects? I'd bet if you add it all up it's over $100 million in damages, so yeah that is some serious stuff.

Boo hoo you couldn't play your games and the greedy company that robs your wallet to pay for something they can't even keep available had to pay to fix it
Posted on 7/8/15 at 12:38 pm to Devious
A company is greedy because they make people pay for a service that takes 24/7 attention to keep up? Sorry but no. Microsoft at least got back up in a timely manner. Sony was fried.

And the providers of the service make no promises of 100% availability

No one is saying Sony and MS should be sued. We're talking about the consequences for this guy and his friends. Whether it's "just video games" or not, money is money

I hope they all get two year suspended sentences
