One person on one computer couldn't possibly do it, so it's done by building "botnets". Botnets are assembled by spreading malware that takes commands from its owner. So if they manage to infect 100,000 machines, then they can make them all attack a specific target at the same time. They can also use this network of "zombie" machines to make all of their twitter posts, so each post might come from a different IP making the owner almost impossible to track down.

I don't think it's them either, it seems like famedgod the leader of the group "anynamous" might have something to do with it. He might have even hacked lizard squads twitter because it has tweets saying "I'm a god". Anynamous was the group behind the last.psn attack. Famedgod released a video claiming responsibility and is saying lizard squad is trying to take credit for his shite. They could all be lying for all we know.

It's so damn stupid and childish. I understand hacktivism when they are attempting to make a difference, but these attacks serve no purpose.

Exactly, especially DDOS attacks that do nothing but flood servers (which I guess is better for us since no info is stolen).
I remember that Anonymous gained a lot of respect from me when they helped leak those photos with the Ohio rape case, but I haven't heard much about them since.
I guess this isn't their handiwork which I'm fine with. Hopefully it's some dumber group that didn't cover all their bases and get caught
