What games are recommended here? I would like to get RDR2 because I loved the first one. Aside from the common sports games everybody tends to play, are there some that aren’t as talked about that you like?

If you've never played RDR2 then it's a no brainer.

What type of games do you like? If you have not gamed in a while I would give Game Pass a try.
My more recent "sleeper" favorites are A Plagues Tale series, HellBlade, and The Ascent

I like football and baseball. Used to love Halo but my old Halo buddies from HS tell me to not waste my money on the newest one. I’ve played COD in the past. I like a mix really. I just remember being obsessed with RDR which is why I mentioned RDR2.

Don't overthink it. Get RDR2.
Also get Game Pass. Tons of great games on there including the latest Halo and MLB The Show 24.

It open world Halo. Story sucks but the combat is as good as ever. Multiplayer is pretty solid now. RDR2 takes a while to get going. TBH it took about 10 hours in before everything clicked for me and the story picks up and then I really enjoyed the rest. Loved the first one as well. If you like action RPGs Cyberpunk 2077 is great now especially the Phantom Liberty DLC

Ok so game pass confuses me. I played Xbox live last I had an Xbox. If I get a game on game pass is it mine forever or is it a seasonal thing.

You can play it for as long as it stays on game pass

How long do games typically stay on game pass?

I think the contracts are all for at least 1 year and any game that's a Microsoft game (such as Halo) is basically forever

Mostly, except RockStar.

They usually give you a heads up before the game leaves the service and give you the option to buy it at a discount. It also stays on your hard drive you just can't access it once it leaves the service unless you purchase it. All .Microsoft 1st party games {except Forza due to lic issues) Bethesda and soon Activision will be on there indefinitely. Most of the EA titles stay on there for years as wel.
Speaking of EA....another sleeper hit is Titanfall 2. If you like shooters like CoD it's fun and different.

Get Game Pass, MLB: The Show is included Day One and Madden is included after the Super Bowl usually which means NCAA will be included after the NCG most likely.

The back catalog of games available for $2 (Time Pilot, anyone??) You can get the packs of Capcom games cheaply from the 80s and 90s. But I suck at video games, so I have low standards. But cheap is low risk.
