Is $399 for a PS4 Pro worth it right now?

Been looking to upgrade. Is that price worth it now or is a $500GB regular one the better option?

Do you already have one? And are you asking g about a $500 version with 1 GB of storage?

I would wait and see on getting one if you already have a PS4. Very few games are getting a PS4 Pro update right now.

I wouldn't worry with it right now if you don't have an hdr tv.

I have a PS3 still.

Are all new games (going forward) going to be optimized for Pro
or will it be only certain games?

There's a bunch of black Friday sales that have them at $250

If I'm getting a PS4 for the first time, I'm getting a Pro. Already owning one, I think I'm waiting on a few games. I have a feeling eventually every game released on PS4 will be 900p with 1080p on the Pro being the full experience. I'm interested to see what Mass Effect and Final Fantasy pull from it.

New games will have 2 versions with the PS4 Pro and the regular PS4. Only about 40 games have a PS4 Pro update right now. Even on 1080p tvs will get an update in graphics on the PS4 Pro. If I didn't already have a PS4 I would get one. I'm just holding out right now on a price drop or more games getting a PS4 Pro update.

If the difference in money isn't an issue then get the pro imo. If you already had a ps4 I would say wait.

If you're new to PS4, go for the Pro option. I wouldn't recommend upgrading from normal PS4 to Pro. Not yet at least. I don't think the performance increase is worth it, but I'm not one to place a ton of value on that.

Have you noticed any frame rate differences with the pro? I will get it if it helps Dark Souls 3 look play better.

I just got PSVR so may upgrade down the road but even the current VR is good enough for me. IMO it didn't make sense to upgrade unless you have a 4k TV (I don't) or want the greatest possible VR resolution.

The VR looks great on the standard ps4, is not a huge jump on the pro but it is noticeable in a few games..but not worth the $300 after trading in my ps4 yet.

If I can pull it for around 200 I'll pull the trigger then

Another thing is that I put an awesome 500 GB SSD in my Ps4 that makes loading times literally non existent and the pro has a 1 TB drive but it's HDD and a 1tb SSD would cost too much. I couldn't see getting the pro and the downgrading the size of the HDD to 500 but have it SSD

By the time it's worth it, it won't be $400

The original PS4 is only SATA2 so using an SSD the system can only support half its speed. It's kind of a waste in the original.

The Pro uses SATA3 and takes full advantage of SSD speeds, so I put my 512GB SSD in it.

I have one. Been playing division. There is no patch for this game. However, the system is a lot faster. Supposedly you need a 4k hdr tv to get the full benefits.

Some games are actually running a tiny bit worse thanks to the Pro running games near to or actually native 4k then downscaling on 1080p displays.

I still say the jump to 4K is a mistake. The kind of power it takes to run most current gen games at native 4K is way more than a $400 PS4 yet 1080p 60 fps or at least just 1080p is a much more attainable goal.

I bought one bc my PS4 flooded. Nothing noticeably different yet except the storage.
