I havent touched my PS4 in a while, and the past few weeks a few new titles have came out that sound promising.

Mortal Kombat
Bloodborne
Dark Souls 2
Battle Field Hardline (I heard it sucked)

I've never played any souls games before!

Which ones are a must have?

MKX will entertain you for about 2 weeks. Already regret buying

Get bloodborne. Best game since Dark Souls.

Wait for price drop for DS2. That's what I'm doing. I'll snatch it at 30 or 40

Bloodborne

It really is that good IMO. I also found it easier to get into than the souls games.

Bloodborne, my first souls game. Easily my favorite game on ps4, and probably favorite in years. Be prepared to die though.

Hijack here -

I'm all for a challenge in games, but I can't imagine dying over and over as an attractive design feature in a game. Help me understand. I play games for fun, not to be punished.

The game is fun, its just hard. It helps create tension during fights and creates a rush and a sense of accomplishment when you beat certain bosses or areas. It will be an adjustment for new players in the beginning who have never played a souls game before. The game wouldn't be as good as it is if it wasn't designed this way.

I use to think the same thing. I never played a souls game until about a month ago. Bloodborne was so big so I bought demon's souls to see how I would like it. I liked it and now I also got bloodborne. I love both games.

Bloodborne, and if you have not gotten Last of Us, get it.

Two must haves on the PS4 IMO.

The single player portion story is ridiculous but the gameplay can be fun at times. I really enjoy the multiplayer. I hated the beta for some reason but I bought it anyway and now I really enjoy it. The faster pace and heist/defend mode are great.

Not to turn this into a debate about the Souls franchise, but I think this is what I've always disliked about the series. If not for the infamous difficulty, the games would be average at best.

Sure, the difficulty is what makes the game what it is. It's the core aspect of the game. It wouldn't be a souls game if it wasn't difficult.

There's not really exp or leveling up in terms of typical RPGs. The players skill really becomes the exp points as he improves.

To the OP, if you have not played Dark Souls 2, it is a must buy also. But wait until they release the patch that will fix the weapon degrading glitch.

The world, the lore, the enemies...I could go on. Masterfully crafted

They have not announced it yet. Just that they are working on it and it will be in the next patch. I will hold out because that glitch would drive me crazy. Plus I already played it on last gen.

I'm glad you can come to that conclusion without ever playing them. And people don't play these games solely for the difficulty - which is overhyped, it just doesn't coddle you and spoon feed you instructions. It's a shame that the difficulty is all that's ever brought up when taking about these games.
