Anyone picked this up yet? I'm curious how it compares to Spider-man and the Batman games seeing as how they are not going the route of the Avengers game and have kept the focus to single-player, non-micro transactions format.

I've been playing the Avengers game since it hit game pass and I think it's fairly enjoyable.

The PS5 version of Avengers really takes advantage of the controller's new functions compared to PS4.
I love how it vibrates according to the character's skills and fighting style.

I’ve been playing it for the past couple days. It’s a bit glitchy but other than that I’m really enjoying it. It doesn’t come close to touching the caliber of Spider-Man but it’s enjoyable none the less.

pretty much this ^ - its a decent game, but nothing super special. so many cutscenes and chatter that for other people in the room its almost like watching a movie.
The combat system is ok, basically consists of hitting the various character specials on cooldown, switching element shots depending on the enemy, etc.
It is really pretty though, just got a new 83" LG C1 and this and Far Cry 6 look stunning

I didn't say it wasn't.
I prefer the single player story driven games like the spiderman and batman games...and GotG seems to be in that mold. That was the point.

I've gotten through the first chapter and slightly into the 2nd.
So far it's a beautiful game...I wish we could play as the other characters but I like how they integrated them into the gameplay and environment. The controls and mechanics are still slightly clunky for me but I don't imagine that'll be a problem for too long.
The real star of the game so far is the dialogue and banter. I've found myself laughing every couple of minutes at the back and forth, and the Drax commentary is on point.

The Avengers game is the most aggressively mediocre game I have ever played in my life. It felt like it was designed in a test tube and focus grouped to death.
tbh, gameplay footage of this game looked exactly like Avengers, so I wasn't thrilled. Surprised it has reviewed so well.

I'm having a lot of fun with this one. I miss true single player linear games and this is one of them.

Same...I'm around Chapter 9 or 10 or thereabouts. Just met the Matriarch for the first time and then had a space battle with Captain Glory's fleet.
It look me an embarrasingly high number of attempts to beat the Dweller-in-Darkness on hard difficulty...I eventually had to reduce it to normal and still struggled.
Keep waiting to see if Nova or Adam Warlock make an appearance (haven't looked at any spoilers so honestly don't know if they show up at any point or not)

finished it last night.
it is definitely heavily driven by story, and I thought the story was great. very ridiculous and absurd, and right down the alley of GotG.
Drax was the best part of the game IMO. Found Mantis to be a little annoying. I love how decisions from earlier in the game somewhat affect the narrative later.
