you said GT was a better sim than Forza. ouran agreed. have you ever played forza to test this theory?
I only have experience with Forza 2, 3, and Horizon. I always thought Forza, while still a sim racer, was designed to play as middle ground between GT and arcade racers like Need for Speed and Burnout.
And I don't think I've read anything that would disagree. You have professional drivers who practice courses in GT.

And the commented about how Forza was probably the better overall game.
Even though I am not much of a racing fan, Yes I have played more than one Forza game and more than one GT game. Enough to at least ensure that I am not a huge fan of racers.

You said it better than I could have.

okay, i'll let yall win this one since i'm not really a racing game or car expert. i just play cuz it's competitive, i like customizing cars, and it's beautiful.

The only thing wrong with GT is it won't let me put a RB26DETT in my s15 Silvia. GT7 better have reasonable engine swaps.
I have it pre ordered and will be picking it up after work.

Could you tell me right quick what would be a better motor for my Skyline, a Gallo 12 or a Gallo 24?

I'd say the one thing that Forza has over GT is the livery design. That thing, and the paint jobs people put out over the years is freaking incredible. everything from sports teams, to naked anime women with their hoohaa's on hoods with their legs going down the front quarter panels

Forza was very popular in Japan (relatively to its console). Lots of cool designs there and in Ace Combat.

Reviews coming out now look really good.
The Good:
-Interface has been much improved. Nowhere near as clunky as previous games.
-Tracks are great. They added a bunch and none are filler.
-Cars handle much better and there's more difference between how they handle and drive.
-Used car lot is better.
-Mini-Games (especially Goodwood) are getting HIGH praise. The Eco-Challenges sound fun as well. Driving a McLaren around the Nurburgring on a liter of fuel...sounds tough but fun.
-License tests aren't as frustrating.
-Microtransactions don't screw the base game over. From the US Gamer review:
-AI has been improved. Again, from US Gamer:
The Bad:
-No choice of first car. You start with a Honda Fit and money IS a grind in the first series of races. Personally I like this because of the challenge it presents. You can't just win a race or two and pump every upgrade into a turd car and dominate. You have to learn the game. I like the challenge.
-Sounds. Cars don't sound "real enough". For some people I guess this could be a problem but it doesn't bother me. For all the great things they put in the game, I can overlook this. Supposedly the day 1 patch will fix it though.
-SOME of the older cars still don't look too swinging. Again, doesn't REALLY bother me too much. With 1,200 cars I don't expect them to all look amazing. The only ones (supposedly) that have this problem are the "lower class" models. Another thing the Day 1 patch is rumored to address.
-Rain sucks. Apparently this is a big issue because every review has mentioned it. Rain on your windshield isn't realistic enough. Kaz has addressed it before I believe and said basically that with the PS3 hardware it would be too much of a burden on the processor so it came down to track & car visuals and gameplay OR 'realistic rain'. I'll take the former.
-Damage models still suck.
Haven't picked it up yet but I am PUMPED

-Microtransactions don't screw the base game over. From the US Gamer review:
quote:
What is different this time around is that you earn fewer cars through racing, but for the most part, it seems Gran Turismo’s microtransactions really are what Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida said they are: the means for someone who can’t play the game much to buy their way through it. That's fine by me: GT6 can have as many microtransactions as it wants as long as it doesn’t feel like the game is being fixed to milk cash out of me like Forza 5 does.
-AI has been improved. Again, from US Gamer:
quote:
The AI is decent this time out. It’s not brilliant, but much improved over prior editions, whose AI drivers seemed to be desperately trying to follow a predetermined line the whole time. GT6’s drivers also feel like they’re doing that, but they move off that line and stay off it if the circumstances dictate they do so – rather than them trying to drive through other cars to get back onto the line as they did in the past.

PS4 controller does not work on GT6 and it makes me buy a stupid Honda Fit.
And it won't let you paint the anniversary cars.

Got it for my birthday last night and I gotta say I'm impressed.
I like this. Makes the first few races a little more challenging. You can buy another car quick though.

I've been able to play a little more and I'm loving it.
The reviews were pretty spot on. I'm almost done with National B races and I've only bought 3 cars outside of the Fit.
-Kart (cheap)
-'78 Trans Am
-90s Japanese car I bought right before I quit last night
Making money isn't tough at ALL, even at lower levels.
I can't even describe how awesome the driving is. Physics wise, this is the best the cars have ever driven. You can notice every little tweak you make with the tuning and with the driving aids. You can feel the difference even in similar cars like the 1969 Camaro SS and Z28.
The AI is improved as well. They'll actually 'race' now rather than just stick to a line. The 5-minute races are a neat addition. Instead of going a set number of laps, you just see who can make the most laps in 5 minutes.
Kart races suck. I hate that crap.

picked it up tuesday night at midnight after work and played till 3am. Pack up at 10 playing on my day off. Pretty impressed. Gonna take a long time to get to 500k for a Nascar. Might go pick up a $10 psn card for a million credits

Nah. I had ~100k before I knew it. It won't be too bad once you get in the later circuits.

When does GT6 come out, or has it already?
Posted on 12/11/13 at 6:24 pm to Bunta
Nice, I am gonna have to add that to my list of games I need to get.

Licences...do you have to do the tests or can you skip like in 5?
Posted on 12/11/13 at 7:39 pm to dawgfan1979
You have to do the license as you switch up class
Posted on 12/11/13 at 7:41 pm to tconle2
But getting a license is shorter and easier
