Why is MS being so difficult about this? These guys are pretty knowledgeable and they are having a problem deciphering this nonsense. Crazy.

I listened to the entire discussion. It's a little sloppy because it's just gamer specualtion based on a post on xbox.com last week but the only issue that seemed to cause confusion was the 10 family member thing. Given all the bad PR, it seems like it's too good to be true

The thing about your box has to check in only once every day, UNLESS you are accessing your game from another system, then it's every hour ..............k.

Also, the point about all of this being dependent on the servers not going down. Once it does, that will be chaos. Hence, MS is bragging about all the servers they will have.

I thought that was speculation on their part. I had it playing in the background while doing Excel gymnastics so I may have missed some things.

I'm pretty sure that's something they read on that site. I'll have to watch again.

Now that I agree with, sic. If MS servers go down for an extended period of time then it will be a PR nightmare. They thought the internet was turning on them now?
They've exposed themselves to huge risk with this. I can't remember a time when Live was down for more than a few hours though. If Live was known for having spotty service, I think this would be a bigger issue.

for a marginal salary increase I'll personally sign on with Microsoft to make sure MS servers are in tip top shape.

i would have a fricking field day with 300k servers.

Is there anything about their speculation on the "required check in" for games, but not for TV or watching movies? Is this required connection only for gaming? I've stayed out of most of the debate threads here, so not sure if it's been discussed yet or not.

I listened to it.

The required check applies to Games and I think other downloaded media content.. But Live Tv and Blu Ray disks are not apart of the check in.

agreed. There is no way they let you open your gaming library up to 10 people, for free. Their has to be a catch to this
