If you have not played in 5 years...

Last of US remastered
BloodBorne

Hands down no question.

Although Bloodborne will probably be too much for your wife.

If you could get a good deal on Black Ops 3, go for it. It's a year old and not the newest one, but much better version of Call of Duty.

A few of us around here play

yeah, five years without a console meaning since he bought one or actually had one in his possession.

because you'd have to say last of us right out of the gate if he hasn't played it.

And all the games I like or I'm looking forward to are sequels to PS3 games

it's not a big deal, but it just kind of makes me think I have a ps4 to finish all the shite I loved on ps3.

I also forgot the fractured but whole. looking forward to that.

That can be said about any console ever. Popular IPs always get sequels. Except Half Life 3.

I only asked because I have seen you point this out a few times, along with remasters on the PS4. Like it is the only console that does this? You have no problem with Windwalker HD, Mario Kart 8 Ultra or the inevitable Smash that will be remastered for switch?

Just don't get the gripe.

it's not a gripe really so much as it's a caveat that I find strange and I've never really been able to say about a console. if that list of sequels to ps3 games was 15 games long, i'd be sound as a pound.

Probably because most of the games receiving re-masters are some of the top games from the previous generation. It's like the guys a couple years ago who said their game of the year was GTA 5 on the PC.

Horizon next month. Otherwise I think Rise of the Tomb Raider looks the best. FFXV is really good.

Something similar to GTA that my son likes is Watchdogs 2.

Not really. I've had PlayStation 2, 3 and 4

Will be my last of the high end consoles though

My last console purchase was an XBox 360 in 2008 until I bought a PS4 last month.

Skyrim Special Edition is as much fun as the 360 version. I easily lost four months of my life playing that game in 2012.

Fallout 4 is a blast, but I just started playing it a few weeks ago.

They were both created by Bethesda thus have similar graphics and gameplay styles.

I also hear good things about Bloodborne.

I mean last time I had a console I played sports games, halo3 and black ops

I played the newer halo (after wars with jet packs) game too. So I'm pretty open. I do like the zombie games though.

My wife has the wii and likes Zelda so we are literally open to everything. She liked the god of wars trailer so I'll get that too.

Well, PS4 still has the big FPS in Call of Duty and Battlefield. It has MLB The Show and all the sports games.

For Zombie games, you have Resident Evil 7 coming in a week. Dying Light is a first person zombie game where it mixes action combat/shooting with parkour. Lots of exciting parts. You have the more cinematic survival horror like Until Dawn, the Telltale Walking Dead series, etc. There's also a fairly big one coming in Days Gone. Dunno when that one is coming out.

For games similar to Zelda, you can try any of the open world RPGs (Dragon Age, Final Fantasy XV, Witcher 3, etc) which have some similarities and feel. I'd also recommend checking out Nier Automata which comes out in March. It's got a demo you can try if you like it.

Overall, I echo a lot of the other recommendations. Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, MGS5, GTA5, and I could give a lot more if you defined things a bit more specifically.
