Which is the best one? I only played the remake of the first. It was fun, but didn't have much of a story.

The 3rd one is pretty widely viewed as the best one. I loved the whole series, though. The first one may not have had too deep of a story, but it picks up with 2 and finishes strong with 3. The introduction of the gameplay elements like the cover system and the grittiness of the characters was what drew me in. Just ignore Judgement though. That one never happened...

Literally the only game that makes me wish I chose xbone over PS4. The first 3 are some of my favorite games ever. 3 is the best by far IMO.

Was gonna get it on PC but after the details today of the Xbox vs PC ability it is only versus AI and private/custom matches.
No Xbox/PC crossplay for normal multiplayer versus.
Lame as frick.
They had generated a decent amount of hype about the crossplay, only for it to be private matches only or AI.

Gears of War was such a great game. Different style of shooter. Awesome story line.
Then they made the 2nd and 3rd one. These seemed overly repetitive. Wasn't a fan. Couldn't ever get into them.
The twist ending in Gears 3 was so stupid.
