A lot of people have no idea how to troubleshoot a no power/no POST. Even the basic principle of if shite doesn't work, start unplugging everything except the CPU, RAM, and power until things work is foreign to those that haven't had experience.

Yep, about the only way to trouble shoot a computer. Test parts through trial and error.

You seem to know a lot more about computers than me. I honestly don't know jack about the intricacies of a computer. That tech has left me behind now. I don't want to have to go into the Mobo or OS and mess around with settings and all that. I used to keep up with it some, but haven't for years now. I just call my tech buddy up and ask what's the best thing to get. And I never go top of the line on new parts.. way too overpriced. I used to sub in parts that I knew worked... gpu, psu, etc.

I've had no comp issues for years, thank goodness. That's another thing about computer parts. You never know when you might get in a part that just doesn't work, even from reputable companies. Never happened to me, but you see it in the reviews.

I promise you can assemble a PC yourself. Just watch a couple Youtube videos and remember you can always reference and google any problem you have on your Phone.

Thanks everyone. I am going to take my time and probably pull the trigger when football season is over.

I don't want this to be another Oculus situation in which I buy VR and never play it lol

Speaking of VR...connecting the Quest 2 to a PC changes everything.

Subnautica in VR is unbelievable.

Build one yourself. It's so satisfying and really not hard. Watch youtube videos and read your motherboard manual.

I just recently went all out for my build. Spent $3k. Got myself a RTX 4090 and an AMD 7800X3D (considered the best CPU for gaming right now). I went with high end air cooling (Noctua NH-D15) over liquid cooling. Also no RGB other than my graphics card. I'm not in to the whole RGB stuff.

It's *far* easier now than it was in the 90s. There are no worries about whether your serial port and modem are trying to share the same IRQ, etc.

Other than basic compatibility checks (am I buying DDR4 or DDR5 RAM for a motherboard that takes DDR5, etc.) I think the biggest deal is making sure the power supply can deal with your CPU and GPU. Routing cables and plugging stuff in is more of an organizational exercise than it is a technical one.

You don't need to enter the BIOS to build a PC, except maybe to change boot order, which you've probably done. You'll like the new UEFI BIOSes, you can even use the mouse in it!

I haven't gotten a DOA part in more than 30 years, and I think it was a Gravis Ultra soundcard and the joystick port didn't work. I assume nearly everything that is called DOA is a PEBKAC (problem exists between keyboard and chair.)

I’m not buying, mate. Was just asking why you were selling, if it isn’t personal

Eta: unless you mean you’ll answer via email and I just misread
