They actually improved the rewards. I had a ton of points that were just sitting there forever (because I don't need a MGS keychain). But I was browsing their rewards page the other day and saw that I could redeem points for PSN store credit. Got at least $15 and was able to get a game.
Not saying the points are fairly proportionate to how much you have to spend to get them, but at least it's something an average game would actually want.

I only do it for the magazines. You get discount on used games about $5 off. I don't buy used games very often.

Definitely worth it. I've gotten at least $50 dollars of free stuff just in the last year, and I don't buy that many games. I usually trade in my points to renew my membership for free and put the rest on Microsoft store money.
