Coming out March 9th, is this an RPG with a plot and ending or is it like Everquest and World of Warcraft?

Um... I assume it's an RPG.

FFXIV is going to be an MMORPG. XIII is going to be an RPG with a plot and an ending.

I just happened to come across this:

Some of the other quotes are good.

A Hong Kong magazine has given FFXIII a 4/10 review, saying the RPG is “so linear that it’s little more than riding an amusement park ride.”

i read a similar review on kotaku that described it as an on-rails RPG and a cutscene generator. it sounds like it's going to suck...

FFXIII looks like it (sadly) may be a huge disappointment.
I anxiously await FFXIV. Hopefully SE has learned their lessons with all of FFXI's problems. My Taru is itching for another round.

When the hell is Final Fantasy Vs XIII supposed to come out?
I heard it was supposed to come out right after XIII but it hasn't even been advertised in Japan yet so It is probably still a year away.
I hope FF VS 13 is a lot less linear than FF13. That was my one complaint about X is that it was too linear.

Not that again.
They need to just make a Final Fantasy Online I/II/III etc and stop including it as part of the original franchise.

I'm excited about a second MMO, because Square seems to recognize that XI was an overcomplicated piece of shite and know how to focus the good elements of it into a new and much better game. With that said, this is the company that thought X-2 was a good idea.

You know FF13 looked like it was not going to be any good. Square Enix should just stay with Yasumi Matsuno's stories. Big ups to FF Tactics!

This series just keeps becoming more and more like obnoxious manga. Catering almost solely to the crowd that wears costumes and jerks off over concept art of Squall's gunblade. XIII has actually gotten a number of stellar reviews, even from North American critics, but the common complaint is that the story is typically watery and that the characters are typically unrelatable and having only the "I have deep eyes, several poses, and over-dramatized trite lines at my disposal" anime coolness factor.

Exactly. Which is why they should stick with Yasumi Matsuno!

Troof. They've learned a lot over FFXI's life though. The game today resembles absolutely nothing like when it was first released.
XI could've been a lot better. It's too frustrating for the wrong reasons. Of course the JP's eat that shite up, but the game just isn't that fun (and it definitely could've been fun). It was unnecessarily painful. SE is a complete pain in the arse, particularly compared to Blizzard. The XP grind sucked. And the fact that you pretty much can't do anything solo is ridiculous. You can tell SE didn't know what the hell they were doing, but at least they've learned some lessons over the years. And I really like the thought of XIV's "leveling" mechanism.
What was your main? I was a Taru BLM on Seraph.

I can't remember which server I played on, but I had a human ranger/monk. Ranger is a lot of fun and also incredibly lethal, but also tedious with the outrageous cost of decent bullets. I was lucky to find a good linkshell with helpful veterans that made quests not so much like fricking an ant hill. I think my main problem with the game was the sheer size of the areas and the relatively slow movement speed. Even chocobos and crag warps didn't help that much, and you were always forced to cover gigantic distances to complete quests.
