Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, a remaster of 2006's Final Fantasy 12, will launch on PlayStation 4 on July 11.

Square Enix announced the launch at a 30th anniversary event for the Final Fantasy franchise today.

Per its name, the remaster will include the International Zodiac Job system that was part of the Japan-only update for the PlayStation 2 game. The job system allows a user to assign a role to a character, which provides them with unique skills and stat growth opportunities.

In a preview last summer, producer Hiroaki Kato noted that under the original character progression system in Final Fantasy 12, all the characters would "basically become supermen" by the end of the game. But the International Zodiac Job system provides greater variety and customization in a player's party.

To say nothing about the battle system, why can't they make more FF titles with this aesthetic?

The market changes. Everything evolves.

I wouldn't say the art style for FF has "evolved." XV in particular is just modern day with very slight fantasy-based elements like airships and medieval soldier armor.

It'll come around. They don't like to do the same things with the next one.

I remember getting lost in some sewer for like 5 hours early in this game.

This was the last FF that I was truly blown away with when it came out. Beautiful graphics and music, and great characters. The voice acting was also a huge step up from FFX, IMO.

I don't feel that's an opinion. I picked up the X remaster on PS4 and it's painful.

Could have been much better if they didn't force Vaan as the main. But I agree, last FF worth a damn.
