I don't know why people have such a problem with the basic turn based attack systems.

Lost Odyssey is a badass game and it is strictly turn based.

It can be very strategic. I like those games.

Wouldn't mind if the combat was set up similar to Crisis Core

That wouldn't classified as traditional turn based, because of the ring system that requires timing/input. That's the type of change that I'm expecting to see to FF7. Some tweaks and more interaction. No way we will the static setup of FF7. Judging off other titles, I imagine it'll be more cinematic or engaging.

Lost Odyssey has a fairly traditional turn-based system. Regardless, why emphasize the change if it's such a minor tweak?

I know SE doesn't owe us jack shite but there's still a sense of ownership with FF7 being such an iconic game and all. It's a tough position for them to be in for sure.

With companies like Square you have to remember there is a language barrier too. So when they say drastic changes it may not be as drastic as we think when we hear those words.

Lost Odyssey isn't as traditional, because things can be queued over multiple turns and they have a wall system to protect the backrow.

Those types of changes are small, but they're fundamental changes with how the game works. As Gardoki said, Nomura isn't saying this in English, it's being translated the best they can. I would be very surprised if the combat looks like KH. I mean, they could still do it, but the comment saying you'll still recognize it means it's not changing completely.

It's a phenomenal game. You have to realize when it came out.

As long as I can switch between party members w/o the AI sucking for the ones I don't control; and the materia system stay the same, I honestly don't care what kind of battle system they have.

I did play it when it came out.

My thoughts on the matter haven't changed that it played like garbage and looks like garbage.

If materia and the Golden Saucer stay the same, I'll be okay. I want to feel that KOTOR grind again. NOSTALGIA!
