Fallout/Elder Scrolls fans: are you a fan of a talking player character moving forward?

So I love Fallout 4, but it's clear I don't revere it as much as I do 3 and NV. Been trying to pin it down to the main reasons why, one of them I think is the landscape is mostly empty of enemies. I feel like you can walk around a long time and simply not come across anything. In the other 2, I felt I was constantly on the lookout for at least rad scorpions, boatflies, and more raiders than I come across in 4.
Anyways, that's one thing, but my character being able to talk, while not really bothering me that much, seemed to change the experience a lot for me as well. Probably not "worse", just different. And when I think about it, I feel I almost prefer he/she not to talk. Just let me pick from the dialogue tree and the NPC can go from there. And someone remind me, did you have an option during character creation to pick a voice? I want to say no, but I might have missed it. But you go through the effort to create your character, but they are going to sound the same. Like I said, didn't ruin the game for me, but if I had the choice, I'd probably prefer to go without.
So going forward with these two series, if this is something Bethesda will run with, how do you feel about it? Could be trickier with ES since you can pick elves and cat/lizard people, along with trolls, so having one set voice probably wouldn't work.

I didn't mind the idea of having a voiced character.
However, I didn't like the voice they picked and they needed more lines. It always seemed like I was saying the same things and some lines didn't seem compatible with the conversation.
Part of it was the lack of moral choices too. It always felt like they were steering you to choose good.
You didn't have a choice for voice other than male/female.
I'd probably go back to no voice. Like you said, let the NPC do their thing. It made what the NPC said more in depth. I fast forward through some conversations because of this.

i actually thought the sarcastic answers were hilarious in Fallout 4. I pretty much used them exclusively
honestly, bets dialogue system was in NV, where your skills dictated options

Might have to try that playthrough.

Yarp. I've played through New Vegas 5 or 6 times and always went with a high charisma for this. Did the same with FO4 and it wasn't nearly as useful.

Yes though I still enjoyed FO4. I think I liked it better than FO3. At this point in technology, I think most people would see the character not having a voice as a step backwards. The new dialog system for FO4 seemed like a natural evolution with a more powerful system.

I said it in a thread we had about Fallout weeks ago:The combination of the best aspects of the games would be a truly incredible game.
The dialogue/story from NV
The location(D.C.) from Fallout 3
The settlement building options and improved graphics from F4.
I agree that it wouldn't be too great at this point to go back to a voiceless character. They need to drastically improve it though.

Capital Wasteland was definitely my favorite. I would have liked the setting in NV a lot more but I think the actual New Vegas threw me off. Wasn't used to having an actual "city" in the game.

New Vegas was cool, but I definitely preferred the CW. NV was a little barren as far as buildings and rightfully so since it's a desert.

Nope. Too much work getting all the lines together for the main character. It's bad enough on npcs.

Ur correct about Falloout 4, reminded me of skyrim.
Both needed more enemies/monsters.
I dloaded a monster mod for both, and it completely changes the games.
I can remember walking from Windhelm to Whiterun and maybe, 2 bears i would have to fight. With this mod, shite is all over, and you dont want to walk at night.
In Fallout, which i like, you had to go find them, like skyrim. and should be a lot more base attacks, instead of having to wait for the step and fetch quest for the raiders/bandits.

Everything you said. I wasn't totally against the voiced character but it felt so damn shallow.
If they could get to previous levels of depth and make it where your decisions matter again then I would be cool with it.
