Has anyone else made the switch from PGA 2K23 to this one. Me and my buddy play a lot of PGA 2K and gave the EA game a shot but after about five holes, we went back to 2K.

The game has potential, but in my opinion, they have some issues to work out. Mainly, there’s no turn order when you’re playing with anyone online.

I recommend giving it a legit shot (4-5 rounds). It takes getting used too because 2K has been the sole golf game for a while. Coming from a 2K fan, EA PGA is much more difficult and realistic than 2K…& far better graphics.

I have nothing to add to this topic except to say that PGA Tour 2004 is probably my favorite sports game ever and I still have the memory card with my save file on it in case I ever get a PS2 again. Oh, and it has the greatest intro of all time.

downloaded 2k23 from Steam yesterday for free(idk if it's a trial or all out free).

I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I can see myself enjoying it from time to time but I just don't see myself being able to sink a lot of time into it......and I love golf.

I got PGA Tour on Friday and have put in a number of hours over the weekend. I'm having a great time with it so far, but take note that I haven't bought a golf game since the EA game featuring Augusta National for the first time came out back in 2012 or 2013 or so. I think I tried a free download of The Golf Club 2019 or so, and while I can appreciate the course creation aspect of it, I'd rather play on the officially licensed courses.

I'm currently playing career mode on Simulation difficulty which has been incredibly challenging so far. The only option I turned back on to help out is the course zoom so I can get a closer look at landing spots, but otherwise I've been trying to read the greens and all that on my own, and have improved drastically in a short amount of time. I feel the game will have more staying power with me than the old Tiger Woods games where I'd easily shoot 10-15 under in a round.

EA Sports PGA Tour
30 Golf Courses

PGA Tour 2K23
100k real and also thousands of fake golf courses.

i'm sorry but the most important thing in a golf game is a variety of new courses to play.

also the EA game putting is shite

i tried it a few weeks ago because ive been wanting to play something like the old tiger games from late 200's.

man 2k sucked. From the music, to the menu designs, to the control schemes. i played for 2 nights and dropped it hard.

is the current EA more akin to those older games?

I hate the mid air spin control. Shot type/approach angle/lie should be what impacts the spin.

You shouldn’t be able to make your ball take a right turn upon landing if you hook it and miss left. It’s dumb

Do you still get natural spin if you turn it off? I haven’t tried but obviously want spin, just don’t want the mid air control. Haven’t had a chance to try it yet

I got it yesterday, and played for a couple hours last night. It’s tough learning the mechanics because they’re pretty different than 2K.

My base career golfer is terrible, but I’m sure I’ll be able to level him up enough to make him decent.

I do Like how there is a ton more career stuff to do than 2K. I didn’t get 2K23, so I’m just basing this off my experience with 2k21

I just wish they would make it cross platform, they've been teasing it now for years and have made 0 effort to get it done it feels like.

Yea the different mechanics are tough getting used to. Played some last night as well. The short game is a little clunky, but then again so was 2k when it first came out and just took getting used to. Dumb there isn't a driving range or something to just hit.

Overall though I like how it plays and definitely has some of the same feel to some of the old Tiger Woods games, but has the ability to go much more simulation feel if you want that. I'm playing in a kind of mix of both worlds currently until I get the hang of things.

I couldn't get a pitch within like 10 ft of the hole. I'm not sure whether or not that had to do with the level of my golfer, or just how the game plays.

I did a round at Augusta with Xander, and saw you can score low with a high enough golfer. You just have to level your guy up to give you more shot options.

I'm enjoying it though, and can't wait to dive in to it more.

Yea pitching was really tough trying to gauge how short to aim the ball. Trying to learn all the shot types around the green to is going to take some time.

Besides that, the elevation changes is probably what gave me the most trouble. Just seems really inconsistent. The training says to club up for large elevation changes. I'd do that and sometime it would still be short and others it would airmail the green.

Ball physics seem fine to me. I've been playing with the mid air control spin and that silly shot power boost stuff turned off.

My career golfer is in the Korn Ferry tour right now and there is no practice round option. So far that's the only thing that I wish was in the game (I'm sure that list will grow over time).

Unless it's something that is added when you make the PGA tour? If not then I'll probably have to do a play now round at each course prior to the start of a tournament.
