One thing that a lot of people don't quite realize is that how much small things make a difference. New gear and just one more level is a huge deal.

yea, I bartered like crazy to get some armor and a new weapon. physical armor makes a ton of difference especially on my Knight. I learned the hard way a few times

I killed Migo but lost two people, and learned the value of resurrection scrolls. Decided it wasn't worth and just reloaded a save. I imagine I will be doing that a lot.

Ive got me, a knight
chick with a demon insider her who casts elemental spells
some skeleton that lights himself and everyone around him on fire
dude with a crossbow.

really looking forward to playing later, now that I figured out how. game is really fun.

I like how tough and unforgiving it is. makes any progress on the map or on your character seem eventful, like a true rpg

postman's tips really helped. and some youtube videos. I also didn't realize how important terrain and formations were at first.

So..hot tip, to can get MIGO's ring w/o fighting him..He is looking for something called "the marrow" ..Well, while you are still on the beach slumming around..there is a marrow flower that is able to be collected ! Also, if anyone is getting punked by that card shark game going on in ft joy, you will want to heal the drunk that is passed out in another area of ft joy and get his sparkler card, play that in the card game with the soliders and BOOM 400g

One thing you might find helpful is making your two extra characters you don't plan on making part of your team long term into shadowblades and putting all their civic points into thievery. Then you can steal a bunch of gear and supplies from the various merchant to give you a leg up there.

I made it to lvl 3

cleric (me)
fighter (red prince)
inquisitor (sebille)
wayfarer (ifam)

got migo's ring so with two shields , two restorations and two blood suckers (cleric and inquisitor) I should be able to fight things and live

The early game definitely weeds out bad party composition but you can definitely make it through till late game and be underpowered as frick.

Couple things, is your fighter a Two hander guy? And are you using shields for both your casters?

On the Arena I always wait my turn and let all the other guys go first. The archer should tact retreat towards you and then you can take him out first. Try and keep the dog cc'd with battering ram, battle stomp, and the polymorph chicken cc move (or have your casters do it. If you have two casters try and make sure you have the summon incarnate ability, those guys are clutch during early game.

I find a DPS warrior, rogue, Ranger, and one caster party to be far superior to a two caster party. With a point in warfare and poly for the rogue and warrior you'll have double battering ram, double battle stomp, and double chicken cc, gives you a ton of lockdown ability. And focus firing physical armor will allow you to take things down faster. You can concentrate on having your caster buff/heal and sling bouncing shield attack for more physical attack power.

Jeff,

I feel your pain on these posts . Glad to see you are better at game.

I have made it passed the first act and I am now on reaper's coast I think. After many rerolls my parts consists of a buddy who is playing a Summoner, Im playing a Wizard and our NPCs are a rogue(sebille) and a melee sword and board (Beast)

Orignally we were using the undead Fane for rogue but him being allergic to traditional heals was not working with the group, so when you make it to the boat u can switch out ANY party member and change any NPC class and then respect them ..a really helpful feature I believe as it allows you to play for a bit, identify some weakness in your comp and let you fix w/o re rolling.

This is also a fast travel location as far as I can tell so you can do this during t the entire game(any Vets can confirm that if wrong) Just be sure to remove any gear/money off of party member you are going to sit.

My successful parties have so far always included a guy with major summoning points. Cross that with some of the other skills that later on allow you to summon things with different elements and you've got a consistently useful 5th party member.

Yeah, you get to use the boat the rest of the game and have a teleport to it.

If you are using Fane I think he makes an awesome archer (preferably with a crossbow). I have him as my ranger and lockpicker and he straight up destroys people once you get to the middle/end of act 2. With executioner talent, making him an elf for blood sacrifice, and using Adrenaline and time warp (and with maxed out warfare) he can many times take out 2 enemies with your first move. And if you have huntsman around 5 or higher and get him to high ground on top of that the damage he does is ridiculous. As far as healing goes if you carry an ooze barrel around in one of your characters packs you can make pretty much endless poison potions to heal him with if needed (and the barrel is also useful for keeping all your bladed weapons, bows, and daggers setup with poison applied to them). As long as you have a mage with level one geomancer you can nail him with poison dart to heal him as well.

This is a great strat, unfortunately since our party already had two ranged we felt best to go two npc melee...and the undead rogue jus t was making fights harder then they should have been..often if we poisoned to heal him, it would damage beast.

On the summoner note..we have him with most wits so he can go first..its always great to use the ele summons for early positioning and attacks of oppertunity not to mention getti ng totems out!!
