I need some help. My son and I are working our way into Diablo 3. He is Destroyer lvl 10 and suddenly lost his shield which means he can't fight. Next to his stats on the bottom of lthe screen is a icon of a body that is broken in half. What is this and how do we get his shield back so he can fight? I am monk and now have the same icon although I still have all fighting functions. Any help is appriciated..

I believe that means the shield broke, you may be able to go to the blacksmith and repair the broken equipment.

I have never let a piece of equipment drop to zero durability, so I am not sure if you can repair it or not.

Normally after about 15-20 minutes of dungeon crawling, you will come across better gear anyway, so don't be afraid to junk your current gear after every half hour of playing.

Makes sense, when he tries to hit a pop us says "you need a shiled for that.". My son is 8 so he is not paying attention to his stats, he just wants to wreck stuff. I would think there has to be a way to repair / get a new shiled.

If you can't repair the shield, the Merchant next to Cain's house should sell one.
