Got to light level 65, level 6, almost seven.
Hand cannons are boss, grenade launcher mechanics need work but they are super strong, and the beginning cabal in The Trost are recommended light level 60, so avoid until you have done a couple missions and gotten to that level.

I am in Afghanistan so I couldn't play until 8:30 this morning when the US servers went live instead of midnight here last night. I had a meeting near my room earlier today so after it I snuck by my room and played for about 20 minutes and got to the farm. Feels good so far. They definitely tweaked grenade regen times from the beta.
Will be on tonight for me, morning for you guys starting around 1030 Central time (2000 my time) and will probably be playing until around 1430 Central time (0000 my time) maybe later depending on how much coffee I drink this afternoon....LOL

I believe they did away with cool down times depending on your armor loadout, so not more hunting for tier 12.
If two people use their grenades at the same time, I believe they get them back at the same time, not counting subclass boosts, etc.

Like it so far. I played a decent amount of destiny, but only in one big spurt (after TTK released). So I'm familiar with all the mechanics and stuff but not necessarily like the deep of it.
To me so far it feels good but just feels like a giant Destiny 1 DLC. Ive played for the last five hours or so and haven't really done or seen anything new.
Not that that is a bad thing... Destiny 1 was really good. Just hoping for some new experiences.

The one big thing I've noticed is how much more improved the patrol environments are.
Haven't been to Io yet, but Titan and Nessus (I believe it is) are both massive and a blast to look at while you're traveling around.
I know a big complaint from Destiny 1 was the story, but I honestly enjoyed the lore from the grimore more so far than the story in D2. Granted, Idk how far I am right now. I'm only like level 12 and 130 or so power.
The new experiences, especially for people who are more PvE based will come from strikes (I haven't done one yet) and the raids. All of the raids have been a blast, at least IMO, especially if you go in totally blind on their launch day.
The beginning period of the game is one where you'll see a lot of entitled people complain (not saying you're doing this), primarily because people want everything handed to them on day one. Over the next week or however long it takes for the first raid to come out, etc...people will rush to lvl 20 and then complain about the game sucking.

Just play the game.
I did the story up until i hit a point where to advance I wasn't high enough lvl. And even then, I only grinder for like 45 minutes more to reach that lvl.
Before that, I did the story missions and then did 1-2 'adventures' and also some public events on whatever planet I was on if they were close to a fast travel location.
I also did like four games of crucible.
With the patrol zones on the planets seemingly always spawning at much higher rates than D1 you can definitely spawn adds and grind gear.
But a majority of your exp comes from completing story missions and milestones it looks like, especially since it doesn't look like there are bounties in D2, at least not where I've been.
Idk if there is necessarily a 'best' way, but I'd recommend just doing PVE until you get tired of it and then switch to PVP.

I find the opening hour of the game to be such a pain, I think it's best just to get all three classes through it as soon as possible.

I'm off Monday and the gf is at work til 5. Until then I'll get minimal time in but I plan on getting to 20 before next weekend.

I'm doing a titan and both the void and arc classes are fun thus far, in both PvP and PvE. I've also heard good things about Warlocks.
I only know like two people who are doing hunters, so I don't know much about their subclasses as of now.
