Death Stranding to Be Built on Guerrilla Games' Decima Engine

Hideo Kojima, Hermen Hulst, and Mark Cerny - IGN

Death Stranding is going to be built on the same engine as Horizon Zero Dawn.

Backstory:

Kojima lost the Fox Engine when he left Konami and had no engine to build Death Stranding on. When Mark Cerny and Kojima were on their tour of all the Sony development houses, the last studio they visited was Guerrilla Games. Hermen Hulst from Guerrilla handed over the base code for their Decima Engine to Kojima before any legal agreement was signed. What started out as a gift to a fellow developer in need has now turned into a full blown collaboration between Guerrilla and Kojima Productions.

They share everything with each other and this includes some work together on Horizon Zero Dawm. With the technical prowess of both companies working in conjunction with each other, the future of games coming from Sony 1st party studios should be very bright.
