I've been seriously considering getting this game. Two questions:

1) How is the plot line? Is it in depth? I don't need a Shakespeare classic, but I want enough to keep me engaged.

2) Is the entire world just one huge hostile pile of enemies? Are there areas where I can carry dialogue with people that wont exhaust every effort to cut me to pieces? I guess I just want to know if I can move around without 24/7 looking over my shoulder waiting to get shanked in the back.

1) there is a plot, but it's vague at points. you have to read item descriptions and probe npcs to get a lot of the finer points. it's not spoonfed to you.

2) there are some safe areas, but they are relatively small. generally one or two rooms around a bonfire. expect problems anywhere else. It's not constant threats, but the game can be very unforgiving.

I don't mind searching for the plot and reading whatever I can to get it. I'm guessing you get the feeling that its you against the world though. Like you're by yourself with no friends. That seems a bit unsettling, but also kind of cool.

I finally make it to the new DLC area.

what's the first thing I do?

Kill an NPC by accident. I'm sure I just pissed some quests away because of that, too...

It can be an extremely lonely game at times

Fewer games will have you experiencing a wider range of emotions tho

Anger
Rage
Frustration
Hatred (for whoever created this $@?!% game)
Disappointment
And finally jubilation when you finally figure out te strategy to beat a boss or complete an area. Then you start back over at anger ten minutes later

But it's a great game

frick those ****s

On my first playthrough it took me probably close to 15 tries before I could beat those bastards. I could always get one of them down easy and then when the other goes into Beast mode that was it.

My least favorite boss in the game.

Once you play dark souks the plot becomes a thing of the past.

That mushroom bitch got an arrow from me but she didn't mind. She's just a shopkeeper, no worries. Stuck on Artorias

Me too. Is there a fire near him because just getting to him sucks.

Ok, I just beat him. Key is to either be very good at rolling and running or have a shield with amazing stability like mine. Either Havels shield or The Greatshield of Artorias(the one I used).

Great grey wolf sif...yeah frick that dude.

Took me a dozen tries.

Ceaseless discharge? Child's play

I don't get it sometimes. I see a boss and think it should be easy. NOPE. Then I see one an think fml and its fairly easy. Just depends in the strategy I guess.

I've also seen vids where people "glitch" for souls I guess? Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the game IMO. Any game really but this one especially.

Yeah that's what I'm sort of worried about. I guess I'm more of a team player. Although with enough play I could get used to it maybe.

I don't know. Plot lines are what hooks me in and drives me forward. I like the motivation. It helps me identify with what I'm doing and gives the game a touch of humanity.

You can summon in phantoms, which are other human players and occasionally AI players.

Not the most reliable system but it can get you over the hump in a tight spot.

Last night I summoned in two people for ornstein and smough.

That would be enough for me. Just some sort of affirmation that I'm not that last human alive fighting some evil shite.
