Ummm...a 7850 will be a 3 year old GPU by the time the PS4 comes out.
Really? I thought the 7850 came out early 2012? With new consoles shipping this fall, that would make it not even 2 years old.
And like they said, it could change. Microsoft changed video cards just 3 months ago, I'd be willing to be they change again before release.

OK...you got me. It will have a mid range GPU that is ONLY 2 years old upon its release.

If the 720 really is half as powerful as the PS4, then the 720 will become the Wii/U and most kid oriented with Kinect and other entertainment, while the PS4 will be more on par with PC's for a few years.
Pump the brakes. Nothing like making definitive statements based on unconfirmed rumors and your own speculation.
If you really think MS would ship a console "half as powerful" as their direct competitor then you really are clueless.

More like a year and a half but a 7850 would be just fine.
I'd be happy with it, 3-5 years down the road no, but for the next few years? Plenty good enough.

This guy has been talking out of his arse the entire thread. No need to stop him now, Fade.

FYI you will be stuck with it for 8 or so years if a consoles life cycle continues to hold true.

youd only get 4 GB of RAM and a 2 year old graphics card because that is what is needed RIGHT NOW.
if you want to play a new game later this year, i will need to charge you more to upgrade.
I only figure you want a gaming computer to play what is out RIGHT NOW, not anything in the future. Cause why would you want a system to handle titles in the future if you dont even know you want it yet, right?

And I'm happy with a PS3 right now, as are millions and millions of others, so win win.

that is what is referred to as "ignorance is bliss"

Because they have no better options in the console market. Of course you will be complacent if there is nothing better out there to judge it by.

Sources say stuff, that title of this thread is sources, shouldn't enter a thread and expect concrete news with a thread title like it is.

Lol. Half as powerful for gaming, yes, as a system? No, so it comes down to do you want a system for gaming, or for Kinect and other software features like the article says?
Microsoft is allocating half of it's ram towards Kinect 2.0 for gods sake. When the developer says it will fall between the PS4 and WiiU in terms of power, that's probably a decent ways behind the PS4. I have no idea what power the WiiU has.

Until this fall when the PS4/720 sell millions of units each at launch.
Hell, the 360 sold I think it was 12 million units in a year and a half, and that was with a large percentage of people waiting for the PS3 to launch because they wanted it.

i think (well i hope) the steambox kills off the PS for good. i doubt anything can kill off the xbox since it is a M$ product

Of course they will sell millions. What does that have to do with anything we are discussing?
I will eventually buy a 720 for the few games I still play on console but that doesn't discredit anything I have pointed out in this thread.

Sony is on the verge and they can't afford to lose much on the PS4. I know consoles typically lose money their first few years but I don't think Sony can let that bleeding last too long. They had to sell their American headquarters the other day for $1.1 billion because they needed the money. They only netted like $600 million off of the transaction too. That tells you they are hurting bad.
Xbox won't go anywhere unless MS folds by some miracle.
I just wonder who will buy the Playstation brand when Sony starts dumping assets.
