After reading the threads on here I really want to give this game a shot. Ive been watching play throughs on Youtube and it looks incredible. I do have a couple of questions though

1) All i own is a laptop, 1 of the minimum requirements i saw is a 3 button mouse and keyboard. Would my laptop not operate the game properly?

2) i found all 42 of the DLCs w/ no game copy bundled in 1 place for 119.00. seems reasonable. I also found the Game plus 21 DLCs for 80.00. unsure about best course of action here

Thanks in advance for the advice

Never thought about 3 button but the middle zooms. Left click selects. Right click moves for example.

I'm sure you could make it work.

I will say don't buy it right now. Wait for a sale.

It had a sale a few weeks ago with game and like 12 DLC for only 10 bucks.

I just went and bought a cheap Logitech wireless mouse for about $15.

Much easier than using the trackpad.

you can buy many of the DLC's on G2A.com for a fraction of that price.

These are the main DLCS that add/expand game play. Everything else is just flavor/cosmetic stuff.

Sword of Islam
Legacy of Rome
Sunset Invasion
The Republic
The Old Gods
Sons of Abraham
Rajas of india
Charlemagne
Way of Life
Horse Lords

There is a metric shite ton. Most of them are portraits, units, songs, coats of arms etc. If you were to buy them at retail on steam it would be ridiculous. Luckily going to third party sites like G2A you can round them up for pennies on the dollar somethings and always at least 50-60% off what steam wants for them.

Yep. I use G2A all the time. Just get the shield protection which is like $0.80. Its really fast and safe. I have moved into only strategy games as I have gotten older and paradox games in particular and its a really good place to get into the genre for a much less financial investment than you will normally find. I bought Attila Total War the day it came out for $24 on G2A.

Just browsing CK2 stuff on there right now and some of the earlier DLC that were main expansions are running like $2. You could probably get the game and all the important DLC's for $40-45 right now there and then get the fluff/cosmetic/frills stuff as you want down the road.

Just my humble opinion, but I would play it vanilla before you start shelling out for DLC. CK is one of those games you become addicted to and play for years or give a shot and drop it within a couple hours. Huge learning curve.

I agree with this completely. That goes for almost all the Paradox games. They are fun and engaging but you have to be willing to put some work into them. Victoria II had a massive learning curve but it may be my favorite Paradox game on their Clausewitz Engine cycle of games.

Its funny because when I was younger it was shooters and sports games now that my twitch reflexes are shite and I get owned at every turn I have moved on to more cerebral type stuff.Once a gamer always a gamer, you just evolve in your tastes.

Thats not bad. On G2A its 5.59 for CK2, 4.46 for Old Gods and $0.56 for sunset invasion so thats about what you would pay for it there.

If there is one DLC I recommend skipping if you are gaming on a budget its Sunset Invasion. It literally creates a vast native american army that attempts to conquer Europe in the late game. Very ahistorical.

The cool thing about how they have the DLC set up is you can pick any number of the DLC's to be active at any one time. Before you load into the game you get to pick which DLCs will be active when it loads up and it doesnt matter which combination of them you choose for a particular game. Pretty awesome.
