I'm always checking the Castle Clash Wikia for this stuff. When you click on each hero, their page lists their skill, stats, and there's a section at the bottom with recommended talents for each hero. I would probably choose different talents for a few of them, but in general the recommendations are pretty good I guess.
Just keep in mind that those suggestions only consider that particular hero. When fighting as a team, the best talent for a scenario could be different depending on how your guys interact.
But the way I look at it, almost any 5/5 talent is better than any 1/5 talent, so I'm going to keep rolling until I get my core team at 5/5 something. I think I will need more than 12k gems for that.

Hm, after browsing that site, I ran across a couple things I didn't know. I knew that Executioner's skill stuns, but I didn't know that it increased from 1 sec to 2 sec at 4/9, and then to 3 sec at 7/9. I had also never bothered to look into Ordinary heroes much, but I noticed that Dryad's skill also stuns for 1 sec, and increases to 2 and 3 same as Executioner. Dryad's DMG is terrible, and to make it worse her attack speed is slow (1500). BUT, a stun is a stun, and I think the right buffs and talents could make her very handy.
Dryad only costs 40 shards, so I think I will buy her a few times hoping to get a nice talent, and then use her for boss fights and keep her on standby for garrison. I will also get my Exec to 4/9 for that sweet sweet 2 sec stun.

I don't think that's a good idea. Unless you just want to park her off to the side and let her try to stun. There are other ways to accomplish this. I'm finally getting full 3 minute stuns. I got 8.8 million the other day when Casty and I destroyed Boss 1 on the first round of fighting. We never had to end the fight. Was that last night?

What are your talents? Without a lot of heavy blows or a cupid, I'm going to need heroes with stun skills. There are plenty videos on youtube of guys using Dryad and Exec (plus TG and Champ) to stunlock boss 3. They usually have PD also (which I have) and Cupid (which I don't have), but I think if I time it right I could get by without Cupid. I will have a total of 8.5 seconds of stun with those 4 heroes, so if I time it right I think I could stun lock any boss once the PD buff kicks in. Even though Dryad's proc will be out of sync with everyone else's, if I can make it through the first cycle and PD buffs, I should only need about 6 seconds of stun.

I have Frenzy 4 (being upgraded to 5) and Pumpkin Duke 7/9 with 4/5 revitalize and if I drop him next to a bunch of troops, and the TG and SM proc on the right stuff, the base goes down in seconds.

I throw my PD which gets hit on, then I throw the rest, the PD gets revived while boss hits my Thunder God. Right before he dies I get a stun and then the druid heals him. When the PD procs and everything speeds up, I'm good to go. Full 3 mins

I have just been choosing the best hero I have with a worthless talent and rolling to see what happens, fingers crossed for something just a bit better. Rinse, repeat. In the last 6 weeks or so, I have gone from a bunch of 1/5 worthless talents to now having PD, Druid and GR all with 3/5 Berserk, Champ with 1/5 Berserk, TG with 2/5 Revive, and Immo with 3/5 Revitalize. Not the greatest set of talents, but with all those Berserks I'm on the brink of turning the corner on the boss I think.
Personally, I think high level Berserk is one of the best all-around talents on almost any hero. Attacking faster means more procs, and that's what it's all about. Revitalize is very handy for arena and boss, where it's crucial to proc asap, especially for buffing heroes like PD and Cupid, and Revitalize on Champ would be pretty sweet too.
For you, I would probably recommend rolling your Champ's talent first. I don't think that War God is helping him much, he would be better off with Revitalize or Berserk.
I guess, basically, try to settle on talents that play to the hero's strength's, rather than ones that "fix" his weaknesses. Reason being a 10% boost to a high stat is better than a 10% boost to a low stat. Also, if a hero's strength is his proc, settle on a talent that plays that up (berserk, revitalize). If he attacks fast (ninja, GR), make him faster (berserk) or give him a talent that works off a % per attack (heavy blow, deadly strike, life drain).

Heavy Blow is almost a necessity for keeping the boss stunned. On at least one character, if not two. I have 2/5 Heavy Blow on Druid and Champion, plus Champions proc stuns and so does TGs. I also have 4/5 Heavy Blow on Succubus but she's not in boss fights right now...I may add her back into the mix when I get my 6th base. So, with boss fights, I have basically 4 stunners: Champion counts twice (proc and talent), TG, and HB on Druid.
Revitalize is the best on pretty much every hero for arena, with the exception of maybe Druid (some would argue the best for him would be Berserk).
Those are what you want to go for IMO. A high level revitalize on Pumpkin Duke is just excellent everywhere. A high level revitalize on TG or Champ can also be an excellent starter for boss fights. At one point I traded a 3/5 revitalize on Succubus for heavy blow because I was concentrated on boss fights...but in hindsight I should have kept it because my arena shrine DPS suffered.
I also kept a War God 4/5 on Spirit Mage.

This is the value of raiding with Pumpkin Duke at 7/9 and Ares Frenzy at LVL 5. This isn't some freak occurrence, this is a very typical raid for me...just sayin', dump your damned shards into Pumpkin Duke and get Frenzy upgraded stat!
ETA: And here's how you farm D8S11 for 37 shards (well, I didn't get the shards on this run, but only heroes required, no troops: LINK

Also I got Poli to turn the guild over to me for a bit so I could change the flags from protection to riches. But is it better to have protection flags or riches? Also, it says I can't change because all of the protection flags have to be used up first. But what if some random dude who never plays has one. We are fricked no?

I'm running the game in Genymotion (could use Bluestacks as well) on my PC. I use Fraps to capture the video, then Handbrake to edit (fraps creates HUUUGE videos)/encode to make them much smaller, then I upload the mp4 to YouTube.
