I’ve never played any of the CoD games, as I stopped playing competitive FPS a long time ago. With that said, I’ve been trying to break out of my gaming ruts over the last few years, and I’ve heard at least some mildly interesting things about some of the campaigns (e.g. No Russian).

I know all of the campaigns are very short, so I’m trying to balance value in a reasonable way. So, with an eye towards playing the single campaign only, which games would you say are the most worth picking up, and what would your target price point be for picking each up on sale?

I stopped playing online fps games and such around 2014 and back then the campaigns were absolutely worth it. They clearly had work and care and artistic vision. Only one I have even seen (not I haven’t played this) you could say the same about is Cold War. All that said do not buy a cod game if you don’t plan to play online the campaign isn’t worth it

As for what’s worth getting the original modern warfare 2 is the GOAT if you insist

And like I said, I’m not paying full price. But as an example, Steam is currently running most of the CoDs for $15-$20. Any of them worth that price, or maybe a bit less?

I can’t speak to any of the modern CoDs really expect maybe looking into Cold War. The original modem warfare 2 that came out in like 2010ish thought is a GOAT. It sparked international outrage over the airport terrorist mass shooting seauence if you recall

Also spec ops the line. If you haven’t played it or been spoiled go get that if you want a campaign that will blow you away.

There’s no clearer sign that have stalkers constantly hitting refresh on this board to get 2 downvoted exactly on most post even when I recommend one of the most famous and well like shooter campaigns of the modern era in spec ops

Already played it, (un)fortunately

Eta: It’s actually the first “out of my rut” game that really blew me away.

Talk about a game that pulls a rope a dope. You lay back in your sofa ready for some schlock run of the mill bs 3rd person military game and end up in Middle East apocalypse now

It’s a 360 game so not sure how available it is but I’d also highly recommend looking into rainbow six Vegas

ETA: it’s on steam with a 9/10 for 10$

I loved Black Ops 2 campaign. You could actually alter the story a bit in it. Advanced Warfare's campaign was not bad either. Did not really care for any of the others though.

OGs:

MW1-3
W@W-BLOPs

New:
MW2019-2022
BOCW

What’s interesting is the latest storyline. It goes in this order:

W@W > OG Black Ops > Black Ops Cold War > Modern Warfare 2019 > Modern Warfare 2 2022

They’re all “loosely” linked to each other.

ehhh, i’ve played just about all of them. memorable? a few, but there are a lot better single player stories worth the time and effort.

all those discounts, COD know they are in trouble?

Finchie, I know how much they currently cost. That’s what prompted the thread. I’m asking whether they are worth it at that price, or whether I should wait for deeper sales

Just a big Steam weekend sale. Honestly, those prices are still quite high, all things considered.

We’re talking about Activision here. You’re lucky they’re on sale now.

Granted, but as said, there are other games. They can remain a pass for the rest of my gaming life if they aren’t worth it.
