My son just started playing and seeing it again for the first time in a while watching him I forgot how incredible this game is.

It’s ridiculous.

Anyone else revisit it recently?

Reading about this is 95% of the reason I've never picked it up.

It's awful. Essentially turns it into a stealth game because I don't want to fight anything. Get so tired of the constant weapon management.

Yep. Been doing a playthrough getting ready for the new one in May. It's still an absolute joy to play, and I'm doing it differently than my original run so it's even more like a new game to me.

And while the weapon system has its negatives, it not at all a big deal to me. You trip over weapons and chests all over the map so you're never desperate anyway.

It doesn’t bother me at all, so I would definitely still give it a shot. It’s not like you can’t easily find fresh weapons.

One of my least favorite Zelda’s for more reasons than just weapon durability.

It's simply an annoyance that I'm not interested in. Even in games with relatively simple and easy repair mechanics, like Fallout: New Vegas, I would actively avoid weapons that degraded too quickly. I appreciate that it's simply a personal preference, but I don't find it fun. "I really like this weapon, but I'm going to avoid using it so I can use it later" is not my idea of a good time

I can see that point. But I appreciate the mechanic encouraging you to explore more as well as finding intuitive (and often fun) ways to clear enemy camps.

And it really becomes a non-factor halfway thru the game anyway when you get the master sword and start collecting the champion weapons, as well as unlocking the weapon slots.

I played it for the first time a few weeks ago and have been addicted since then. Such a fun waste of time.

IIRC it’s more like, “I’ll use this one even though it’s about to break, because I can get another one by warping to that spot that always has one.”

This. I didn’t even bother to finish because of this stupidity.

I'm avoiding a replay just because they're using the same map for the next game (which I vehemently disagree with, but what can you do?) and I don't wanna have the whole thing memorized

It is stellar tho

In the Legend of Zelda, you farm for bombs and hearts (and rupees and keys if you don't know the way). In Breath of the Wild, you farm for certain types of weapons. First in the shrines, later in Hyrule Castle, but you can build up an armory and go farm for weapons when you get low. (It would be nice if the Master Sword cooldown could eventually be lessened, or completely eliminated, though. Maybe as a reward for finding all the golden poomojis.)
