Bought a PS5, haven't gamed since PS3

I got it to play Hogwarts Legacy, I also would like to play some of the older PS4 hits.
What's going to be the best way to do this, buy from ebay/gamestop, or are there enough offerings on the PS plus to do it on there and what tier of it makes the most sense?

you need to look at the "Game Catalog" and "Classics Catalog" to see which tier you want. classics will get you down to PS1 games. most of this catalog will be streamed from the cloud.

IMO, streaming the PS3 games looked like garbage and it was hard to get over. Input lag with the older games is rough.

yeah, i haven't tried it. i'm only an essential subscriber. sony better get their act together if streaming is going to take off.

sony is really losing out due to the original PS3 hardware. they're handcuffed on what they could actually do because it was so difficult to code around. they should really look into hiring the folks that are currently developing the RPCS3 emulator to get it working on PS5.

I don't think it is the PS3 that is holding them back right now, they had a shite ton of great games on PS4.

that may be true, but how many PS3 games are backwards compatible compared to 360 games? the PS3 catalog isn't lacking, yet, they're locked behind a missing backwards compatibility function.
the only way to play PS3 games on PS4/PS5 is via cloud streaming.
360 games can be downloaded to the One/Series S/X.
i feel like there's a reason so many first party sony games got a remaster. they couldn't make the originals backwards compatible.

So many ps4 games if you just pay for ps plus.
Too many I can’t play them all even owning a ps4 previously.

Idk I just downloaded twisted metal and tm 2 on ps5.
They are available to do with literally a ps4 or 5 upgrade that didn’t come out on the ps4.
Lots of games like this. No steaming.
But go ahead a boot lick, wouldn’t expect less from you.

Why don’t you go and try to download a PS3 game from the Classics Catalog. According to their website, Batman: Arkham Origins is there. Let me know how it is…
