Halo series is the better trilogy,

But Metroid Prime is a much better game than any title in the Halo franchise.

Metroid Prime. The first game was absolutely phenomenal. The second game was also very impressive even while living in the shadow of the first. The third game was really fun and one of the first "FPS" games to provide a solid use of the Wii controls.

Halo was great, but was really known for its multiplayer. I did have great multiplayer, but multiplayer FPS games are nothing new. Metroid Prime did to Metroid what Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time did to the Mario and Zelda series.

Halo didn't reinvent anything, it streamlined the fps.

Metroid Prime is my favorite game of all time

I remember not even being interested in it, but my mom got it at a garage sale for some reason for my 16th birthday back in 2004. Why, I don't know. I didn't ask for it.

Anyway, I decided to play it and was hooked on it. It had that addictive type of gameplay where you see some door or ledge or area that you can't get to yet, and have to figure out how to get there. And solving puzzles, and all of that. It's a game where using a guide or walkthrough would destroy it, because the fun is figuring out the shite yourself.

I think they nailed the atmopshere and music and environments. The prime example being when you go underwater to the crashed frigate. I remember being blown away by that whole area.

My only issue with the game is the final boss. Instead of being creative they just decided to make a mega boss with a shitload of HP and have you grind it down, rather than figuring out some clever way to defeat it.

What a great game. I usually play it about once every 4 years. Last played it in 2011, so I will probably be booting up the Game Cube soon

So which is your favorite?

Singleplayer = Metroid Prime hands down

Multiplayer = Halo hands down

Pretty easy.

Halo MP is great, but it wins by default.

Halo would probably get the edge in the SP mainly because of an actual story. I enjoyed Metroid much more, but if I'm honest, you just run around shooting things in different areas. There's some lore to read (specifically the Prime series), but you're basically chasing around space pirates.

Again, no point in comparing the two games.
