I just got into this game in earnest yesterday. Started picking up parts and experimenting. My first thought was to get the biggest, beefiest mech I could make but it seems there is a drawback to a lack of mobility. Does load have an effect on engine power and speed?

What have you put together so far? I'm only in Chapter 1 and went back to a quicker feeling build after some struggles in one mission.

I am a HUGE Souls fan. Would I like this? What does it compare to?

Double Gatling gun/double songbird on a tank build. Or double Zimmerman/double songbird. Lots of AP and burst damage.

Hit the select button when building to see what the different stats mean. You’re not going to want to stick with the same build throughout the game. I haven’t yet. I tend to favor the quick loadout I have but have been experimenting with the bigger ones too

It's a different game but with some overlapping FromSoft tendancies like big bosses with choreographed movesets. But it's more of an aiming, dodging game and the movement just makes it feel completely unique with the dashing and speed of it all.

The world is similar to Mechwarrior: Mercenaries. You're a merc that takes on jobs in a mech (Armored Core).

The narrative almost has a feel of an Ace Combat game. Dramatic deep voiced intros to missions and then sometimes your enemies will monologue as you fight. It's enjoyable.

The combat is almost a mechanized sort of a Souls game in that you can't just arcade blast your way through. Every large enemy has a pattern and weakness you have to thoughtfully attack or else you'll get flattened.

Against enforcer, balteus and sea spider I got up high and used bazookas and song birds but other wise used Gatling guns and song birds. Ibis is maybe the hardest boss I’ve ever beaten, just scraped through with gatlings, stun needles and light tank legs.
