it's a shame Louisiana wears the earplugs and yells "LALALALALLALALALALALALA" about craft beers

I've put down quite a few Covington Strawberry Ales this summer. I'm not usually big on beers with a fruit flavor, but that shite is delicious. My local bar also had it on tap for $1 for about a month

they really aren't that bad! I do find myself really liking the Abita Strawberry Harvest, even though it tastes like fruit loops

Dude now that I've had the Covington, I'll never buy Abita Strawberry again. Covington's is so much better

I recently had a pre-prohibition recipe lager called "Batch 19" and it's fricking amazing...

And it's got an "allegedly" cool true bro story.

quote:

In 1919, beer was banned. Barrels were broken. Breweries went belly up. Drinking a beer became an act of protest against those in power. Each toast was a citizen's demand to enjoy life's simple pleasures. When beer became legal again 14 years later, it was never the same. That is, until a few years ago when we discovered an old beer recipe in the basement archives of the brewery dating back before Prohibition. Batch 19™ is inspired by the last batches of beer brewed before 1919.

Not sure if serious... but if you are, it really is one of the best beers I've had in a long, long time.

an all-too familiar tale, my friend. check out the documentary Beer Wars to really get you pissed about this kind of stuff.

well actually in Batch 19's case, I'd imagine it'd just be too tough to distribute to the South, but still
