As much as I appreciate good and varied types of beer, there's few more doucheish places to go beer-snob than a crawfish boil. I've actually seen it a couple of times and it just strikes me as completely lame, for some reason.

Any cold mass-market domestic is perfectly fine in that setting. And, I would argue, maybe even preferable.

I usually won't say anything until people look at me like I have a dick growing out of my forehead for drinking something different.

And to be clear, I'm talking about people who will show up to a crawfish boil with their own stash of beer (one that's not advertised as BYO, mind you) because they're "not drinking that crap they have here" (usually, a domestic keg or something like that).

If you're that guy, you're what I'm talking about.

If it's BYO and you bring whatever the hell you want, you're okay I guess, in my book.

I dont care what anyone drinks, but somebody who tries to belittle me for drinking cheaper beer than they are needs a kick in the face, ESPECIALLY in such a casual setting.

This post turned into a battle. REAL BEER VS. TRAINING BEER.LOL.... I just had to say that. Everyone has a different goal when kicking a few back and every person is entitled to their own opinion. But I do see that there are some beer drinkers on this board.

I challenge everyone to try a different beer at the next boil.

I'm 36 dude. I went through several years of drinking craft beers and turning my nose up mass production. I brewed all-grain that was damn good. When I go to a crawfish boil I want "training beer" or whatever clever name you have for it.

I don't need to "challenge" myself to try a $15 six pack when I'm washing down salt, fat and pepper.
