I've never had that experience with their stuff. Maybe it sat too long or something at Sams?? I do think you are correct though that they use parboiled rice.

i'm surprised anyone on this board would admit to actually using store bought jambalaya mix. First jarred roux now pre packaged jambalaya mix.... what is going on around here?

I like the conventional way, but with mix I can get home and have a good jambalaya ready on my stove in 2 hours or so.

What's wrong with using parboiled rice in jamb? I never get complaints with mine. Do most use long grain rice?

Oak Grove's probably my favorite, though I havn't had it in a while

An interesting note: There's some dollar box of jamb mix (forget the name) that's made by tony chacherie -- in fact it even comes in a tony c. pouch. same stuff as in the $1.79 tony c. box?

I have sold and used Oak Grove and Jody's...
I like Oak Grove more for the heavier meats and Jody's for seafood. Gotta try Jambalaya Girl.

.... now don't go crazy on me ...
the other day, just for ???? while at the Dollar Store I picked one of their boxes, hell, I do not even know the name .. not bad at all.
