I went today to pick up a couple of grocery items. I normally don't shop at TFM, because it's out of my way and I have closer options available to me (Rouses and Alexander's primarily).

From the moment I walked into the store, I was greeted with a very friendly greeting and said if I needed anything, just ask. Picked up some meats from the butcher (NY Prime Strips @ $12.99 per lb. and ground beef) and was promptly served. Checked out and struck up a pleasant conversation with the cashier instead of the typical head down, not interested in you and wish you wouldn't have picked my line to checkout cashier.

The store is clean, products looked great and pricing seemed to be more reasonable and in-line with the stores that I frequently shop. I'll go back for sure and hope to go more often.

On another note, I also went to Whole Foods earlier today. Don't have a comment about customer service, except that no one greeted us the entire time we were in the store - not bad / not good - just what it is.

Pricing at Whole Foods for Prime NY Strips - $22.99 per lb. Yikes. And 16/20 count fresh shrimp? $15.99 per pound. Double yikes. I know they can charge whatever they want, because there is a market out there that says people will pay for it ... but their pricing structure is absolutely insane to those that actually value their dollar.

Whole Foods is marketed to people that want to spend enormous amounts of money on things that don't matter

I love fresh market. I just hope it stays open. Rumor on here is that it might be closing

I hope you didn't hold up the people behind you.

I thought that Whole Foods in Mandeville would slay FM. The last couple times I have been in FM it was pretty busy. Not super impressed with WF.

I was in there this afternoon as well. Other than some dealings with surly customers, I've always liked going in there, and the usual manager on duty is a super nice guy. Always clean and very very fresh produce, meat and seafood and the bakery is downright dangerous.

The WF in Mandeville is extremely underwhelming. It's just the MILF be seen crowd there.

Fresh market is far superior and is always easier to get in and out of.

I like TFM. The one on Veterans is one of like 6 stores within three miles and I'm worried it's not going to make it

Whole Foods (and Fresh Market to a lesser extent) is like fricking Luby's for Hipsters. The amount of people I see in there buying shitty cold/hot case pre-prepared deli items is disturbing. If you go to those places and actually buy ingredients, they aren't half bad... but most people seem to treat it as a freaking cafeteria.

Whole Foods dominates them on the prepared food and beer side of the coin but I agree you can find some food deals on meat there at fresh market.

I was so disappointed in this place. The Rouses on causeway approach is way nicer.

I can't believe they would make such a bland store in that location.

Fresh Market in Mandeville is great. Not sure what you dislike about it, but the butcher dept is the best in town.

Way better than WF or Rouses.

Were the strips really USDA prime, or some other nomenclature without standard like premium, signature best, etc? Their ad says "premium choice" and every time I have been in there I could not find true prime, but if they have it now it will entice me to return as I am vet disappointed in the translation of LeBlancs to Rouses (not that LeBlancs carried Prime anyway) in the AP

Whole Foods has finally recognized their business model is declining as regular grocery stores, Trader Joe's and Costco have pulled fringe WF people away permanently. At first they were going to roll out seperate more cost effective stores but now they are doing a blanket model change and reducing cost and eliminating items that are high priced and no longer sell. More focus on their brand name and consolidating around that.
