I move around on beers and have started some scotch ale. I like the founders dirty bastard.

Any suggestions for some maybe I've never heard of and if they sell in BR?

Backwoods bastard is the barrel aged version of dirt bastard. Not sure if they have any left on shelves in BR. McEwans and Bellhaven make a scotch ale that you should be able to find. Go check out the list on beeradvocate.

FIFY

But really the lines are hazy and somewhat arbitrary in regards to those styles.

Personally not a preferred style, but Old Chub isn't bad.

That's one of my favorites. I don't know of a whole bunch of them though.

ETA: Here is a paste magazine list of 15 good scotch ales. LINK

I think Frnech Broad distributes to BR and they have a decent scotch ale. I don't find it as enjoyable as OB, but it's not bad and worth a drink to expand the palate.

They actually just stopped distributing to LA. Or so I was told by Tim @ Elio's.

Dales Pale Ale and Tenfiddy were always my "go-to" flavors.
