We are headed there for a long weekend. I need a place to watch the Auburn game on Saturday. The two recommendations I have for that so far are: Legends and Iggy's.

I need a nice dinner spot. Wife wants to go to Log Haven. I'd also like to hit a brewery or two while there.

Thanks,

I think iggy's is ok but more restaurant than bar. I would also look into Lumpy's for the game. The downtown location has tons of tv's and I really like their wings.

Brewery you have Squatters, Red Rock, and Wasatch. Those are the ones i have been too and enjoyed the food and brew.

You also have Epic (never been) and Desert edge (just ok).

For nice dinner, i have heard The Roof Restaurant is a good spot. again i have never been. When my wife and I want to do a nice dinner, we got more bang for the buck so we like to go to Tucanos or Rodizio. Both are brazilian steakhouses where they walk around with meat on skewers so not as romantic or personal, but all you can eat.

Settebello pizza was really good for a casual dinner.

Right next to Red Rock Brewery and around the corner from another one...Squatters?

Red Rock Brewery downtown is a great place. The wood fired pizzas are really good and the beer is great. Just be sure to understand Utah beer laws (i.e. order all beer out of bottles/cans, never on draft). If you're a fan of IPAs, Elephino DIPA is fantastic.

Oh, isn't there a Utah beer law where they can't hand you a beer directly? They have to place it in front of you, or something like that?

Stayed at a cool bed and breakfast there if you're interested.

The places we always hit when I am in SLC are Red Iguana (Mexican, especially the mole dishes), Settebello (pizza & gelato), and Takashi (sushi). Copper Onion is also quite good.

I've eaten at Log Haven and it was very good, but it has been a few years. Lovely spot though.

I like the Squatters brewpub, the Bayou, and the beers that Epic makes. Your mileage may vary.

Wife has us going to Log Haven Sunday night. I'll report back on that.

I'd love to hit all the breweries Saturday, but the college tour takes half the day and the Auburn game starts as soon as we are done. Gotta find a game spot and stick to it.

Make sure you drink some Uinta, if it's not available where you live. They, along with Squatter's, make some fine beer.

Only had two meals in SLC. Evining meal was Settebello Pizza and breakfast was at a downtown hotel about eight blocks away.

Pizza, service, and craft beers were great.

Tried Provisions tonight on a whim. It dominated. Small, local place. Menu was diverse. I had BBQ baby backs with a hoisin glaze and kimchi. The wife had steamed Chinese buns with BBQ pork and hoisin sauce. My son had a flap steak rare.

One of the better meals we've had in a while. Service was good. Atmosphere was small and local. Drink selection was good with local crafts and speciality mixed drinks. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I second the recommendation for Red Iguana, some of the best Mexican Food. Watch Diner's Drive Inn and Dives for Red Iguana. Also if you like Philly Cheesesteaks check out Moochie's Meatballs.

Did the Red Iguana tonight. The wait wasn't that bad (30 mins). The food was good. Definitely not the TexMex I'm used to. They served 8 different moles. I'd never eaten any until tonight. There was still a long line when we left. Place stays packed.

The Elk tenderloin.

The filet.

If you are ever in Salt Lake City, I'd recommend you stop by. Atmosphere is awesome and the food and cocktails are great. First class venue.
