Anyone else disappointed with the changes made to deli items when Robert's took over Matherne's. Matherne's had good fried chicken, catfish, and plate lunch entrees. Everything I've tried at Robert's has been terrible.

Robert's did not end up buying the Bluebonnet location so just go there if you have the craving.

Fried chicken and red beans were definitely not as good as Matherne's used to be

I haven't gotten the deli items yet, but the meat section and the beer section are both exponentially better now. I like the Matherne's people, but I definitely came home aggravated a lot after going there and not finding what I needed. Hopefully Robert's will have more selection storewide after the renovations.

I'm not. Originally I was but it was the week they took over. I gave them some time and now everything about the store is better than the old Mathernes.

I had a plate lunch from them last week and saying everything has been terrible is just being dishonest with us/yourself.

Noticed the beer selection was exponentially improved. Mathernes had a bunch of old crap. Can't speak for the lunches, but the breakfast was subpar. Staff was very friendly and helpful at 7am however

I heard the crawfish were good. I have never bought anything from the deli even when it was Matherne's

Do they sell breakfast in BR? I love their breakfast on Claiborne.

Everything they serve may not be terrible but everything I tried was not good.

I don't know if it's only for the time being but LA shrimp are $2.59/lb. They looked to be 21-25 count.

Whole chickens are $0.39/lb.

Stepmom bought some and we are having them tonight. I think they may have been flash frozen though. We are used to buying shrimp off the boats so I will see if there is a noticeable difference tonight.

Yea I doubt they are fresh.

I think the cheap meat prices alternate around.

Shrimp are still cheap right now. Currently eating a lunch plate from there. It's good

Fried Chicken was tasteless and dry. Catfish flavor was not as good and undercooked. Fried Pork chop was inedible (Im not kidding it was hard as a rock). One of the pasta lunches I tried was so over salted I could not taste anything else. I'm not a food snob by any means. I'm glad you are finding things you like. Hopefully I will too.
