Any suggestions? Approx 50 people. Most likely buffet/reception style. Budget max is 3k.

Good ideas. Either one will probably do a reception style set up in their upstairs party areas.

i had my rehearsal dinner @ Impastaos in Metairie

i suggest this if you arent doing a downtown nola wedding. the food was incredible and we had the room with the bar to ourselves to walk around and hang out and mingle. theres nothing worse than a rehearsal dinner where you are stuck at a table for 3 hours sitting next to the same 4 people.

Ralph's definitely does reception style gatherings upstairs. My wife had her bridal luncheon there. No quite sure of the price though.

The wedding is downtown so don't want to stray to far. Uptown or midcity are
options.

When I was planning my rehearsal dinner, I priced out a reception style dinner for 80 people at Ralphs for $8227 which includes alcohol, tax, and gratuity. I chose the sit-down dinner which was only about $650 more.

With 50 people and a $3000 budget, it will be very difficult finding a decent place in NOLA that can run about $50/person.

You could throw in some cash assuming your parents are the ones paying.
As far as the dinner: Acme, Tujajues, Ralph & Kacoo's, Oceana, RocknBowl (honestly and only like $20/person). I have this info because I have recently been researching this very topic. I am looking closer to $7500 where I want it.

I've been to a couple at Hard Rock Cafe on Decatur. They have a banquets room upstairs with balconies that overlook Decatur. Nice and fun atmosphere with pretty decent food.
