I heard that Phil's had reopened (maybe under a new name and definitely not on Government)...

Is that true? I am wanting some char-grilled oysters the next time I am in BR.

Yep.

We went there a few Fridays ago. It was pretty strong. The shrimp remoulade was excellent.

The consensus based on everything I've heard/read is the food is good but the prices are steep.

I went a couple of weeks ago... I wasn't terribly hungry so I just got a shrimp poboy. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked well, but there were only like 5 or 6 shrimp on each half. The bread was good, but it didn't seem to be new orleans poboy bread. The lettuce was also cut, not shredded. It was a serviceable sandwich but nothing that I'd go out of my way for. I really liked the space and the girl that waited on us was very nice. I'm chalking it up to problems of a recently opened restaurant. I'll try it again in a month or two.

The signs painted on the windows look exactly like the ones on the original Phil's on Government St. I went a couple of weeks ago and I got the chargrilled oysters which were good. Planning to go back for lunch tomorrow.
